Mr Downey and Mr Nu'uausala had a verbal altercation at a set of traffic lights and Unasa came up behind his friend and punched Mr Downey in the face, sending him backwards onto the ground.

Mr Nu'uausala and a friend of the victim went to the aid of Mr Downey, who was treated for a broken nose at St Vincent's Hospital.

Not sticking up for the guy who got decked, but if FPN and his crew had not followed this dude out onto the street to argue with him this likely wouldn't of happened. Fans heckle footballers all the time. If they can't laugh off a sledge like 'your team sucks' without following the guy onto the street I don't know what to say.

Additionally, FPN's "friend" who did the swinging deserves a flogging from FPN for putting him in this situation.

I'm agreeing with others - it was kind of a mental fart to tell a bunch of big muscular men the club they support, and in one case play for, is shit.
Hell the bloke who threw the punch might not even follow the game, but he may have felt a need to act on behalf of the player that could not.
Doesn't make the potentially dog shot punch OK, but the loudmouth should have shut his trap.
We are all entitled to say what we want (to a point only of course), but if it rubs someone else the wrong way you are also entitled to cop a smack in the mouth for being a dick.

I haven't read the articles at all. If the article says he punched the bloke then that is just plain wrong. If it says he is involved it is correct.

From what I understand the Easts player has been a bit of a peacemaker and assisted the injured bloke. Hardly dragged through the mud. This is sort of how I'd expect a story to unfold - Easts player involved, details come later. If a suggestion was made that he threw a punch then that is different entirely.
