You can film whoever you want if it is in a public setting but if you ask them to stop and they refuse then issues such as harassment comes into it. Andrew said that he'll smash his phone, different from smashing him which would be out right battery as opposed to damaging private property. It will come down to weather the threat was credible and weather the ref harassed Andrew. The fact that a ref pulls out a phone while he's officiating should have consequences too you would think, are you not meant to be controlling the game rather then playing with your phone?

It wasn't during the game you imbecile.

Your attempt to paint the professional NRL players as victims is beyond transparent.

And to say the referee should go to jail, please take your meds

A law enforcement officer who gives false accounts should be allowed to walk? Are you f**king dumb?

It was after the game mate.

Not sure if it was immediately after when he got off the field, 5 mins later before he went for a shower or 20 mins later, after his shower.

Considering he had a phone, perhaps it was after he showered. Why would he take the phone on the field? Surely he leaves it in his bag in the refs room?

Or he brings his bag to the sideline for the game for security reasons, doesn't want something to go missing left in an unattended room?

I'm not condoning what the Fifitas did but the ref certainly incited it by going for the phone. Being a cop & trying to pin crimes on people, I suppose video evidence is the key. He shouldn't have deleted his footage, so the truth could be told.

If he's deleted it or his phone mysteriously disappears then I think it would be safe to call his story bs. Video evidence is the key and when it's released I hope the wrong party pays the price.

Depends on the context mate. This isn't like he has accused him of murder. Regardless your blaming the guy for all sorts of things here with zero proof.

Like this claim that he "deleted" the footage, deliberately lying to try to make Fifita to be the victim.

It was right at the end of the game
The ref would have had his stuff at the time keepers table

He was asked by D Fifita if he could ask him a question
Ref said no
Now this was after he would've known D Fifita was helping an injured player
D Fifita would have been wearing a high vissy vest in his role as trainer.
There would have been little mistaking the two brothers.
One was bright yellow/orange
The ref would have also surely been made aware of the injured player at the time in the game .
He chose not to stop the game.
Not stopping the game combined with the not explaining why would have been why d Fifita swore and cracked the shits.
Mind you I am assuming the ref would have heard naughty words all game.
D Fifita has copped his punishment for that.

The other stuff with his brother could have been avoided had the ref not acted like a dick with the phone.

Yes it's all the referees fault.

You guys are all over the shop here, firstly he shouldn't have pulled out a phone. But then without video evidence clearly the guy is lying??

Read it again

Do you actually read and take in what you read?

Your current record of just making shit up would tell me that ... No you don't take in things you read.

D Fifita was in the wrong
Trainers cannot approach the ref.

In saying that
The ref went in with it by filming his brother and making it into bigger drama.

Went in with it?

And you accuse me of not reading things.

So in your mind pulling out a phone, means the behaviour is justified?

carch you're still blaming the ref. neither fifita should have approached after being told "no". those two are thick as bricks but surely they know what the word means. and surely andrew could have started talking nicely to the ref when the phone came out instead of acting like more of a thug

rofl.

Someone sticks a phone in your face and you are meant to start talking nicely, when already in a heated argument.

I've seen first hand accounts of people involved in road rage incidents and when one person decides to pull out a phone, it always gets worse. Why, because it's a provocative move. Even if it may prove fruitful for evidence purposes. It only works out well when an onlooker manages to capture it.

It was a stupid thing to do by the referee, it was only ever going to inflame the situation. You would think that a police officer would be trained in the handling of heated confrontations, this is their bread and butter. This bloke failed miserably in that regard.

That said, Fifita obviously is in the wrong his actions are inexcusable.

However the punishments suggested are beyond laughable.

So he stuck it in his face now? Lol as said end of day Fifita is a high profile rep RL professional. It was his duty to not be involved in anyway. But yes it's all the refs fault, the other 3 official who witnessed it who obviously colluded, and they have just made it all up as he hates the Sharks lol.

The quoted words from all articles and in Andrews submission 'get that out of my face'.

So considering all of you lot have quite happily gone about your business selectively trusting certain aspects of the reported facts. Yes i'm quite happy to go with what has been printed in multiple reports within the media that he felt the phone was in his face.

And evidently you can't read because i go on to state that his actions are inexcusable.

If you can't see that the referee has contributed to this getting out of hand, then you are a blind man.

That's not trying to make Fifita out to be the victim, that's just cause and effect.

Ha
Nobody is saying either of them are without fault
Nobody is saying it's all the refs fault

But you will continue to suggest people are saying that.
Just more bullshit from you.

lol at Miller defending the indefensible, A+ for effort though. Here we have a rep player in the top league in the world at a kids game. Regardless of what he said he'd smash or if the ref felt he needed to film what was happening the guy has a responsibility to the game that is paying him big $'s. He's out of order, He should have apologised, said it was in the heat of the moment, had his picture taken shaking hands with the ref and ordered to d0 200 hours volunteer work with the PAnthers leagues set up. All blown over in a day or two and we get back to the footy. Instead we have this BS with lawyers and he said she said.

I wouldn't defend you if rabid dogs were chewing at your nuts, but that's a point for another day.

I am not defending the stupidly you Mong. I have said that from the start, but I am defending the level of utter bullshit people like you carry on with by selectively accepting components of rubbish journalism as fact.

By the way, how is your rubbish team doing in the NRL?

Oh wait.

Hope you never ever see the day

Pulling a phone out, is now akin to an act of violence.

Maybe we should start a campaign.

Yep, since when did pulling out a phone and (probably pretending) filming someone become an act of provocation?

If it were me and I had said something stupid to a ref, and he whipped out his phone to start filming, the first thing that would go through my head is to say "Sorry mate - I didn't mean that, can we talk about this or not?" I would never have felt that it was in any way the other person's fault for me carrying on like a tool after the phone is pulled out.

Andrew Fifita has no justification for threatening to smash a phone or even demanding in an intimidating fashion that someone stops filming him in a public place, based on supposed provocation of "someone taking out their phone and filming him".
