Another billionaire wants to buy us...

If the town and members are going to be stubborn on this issue, I wouldn't be surprised if we are stripped of the NRL license and the NRL started fresh. In fact, they should. I'm sick of the f**king morons. I'm sick of the dickhead, idiot, close-minded members. Reading what the average novocastrian says about the Knights and all these issues is intelligence destroying. They couldn't run the club for shit and have no idea what is best for themselves.

What basis is there for opposing this owner? Simply because he has money? I'm sorry, but I don't see too many billionaire locals putting their hands up to buy the club. Even Wests is keeping us at arms length. Are we just going to vote no to every owner? I'm sorry, but the NRL wants a private ownership model for us. Tough shit.

^ to be honest I don't think it matters how much the members and/or the Newy media are against this...if it's what the NRL wanna do they will. Stripping the license will achieve nothing. They're going to cop resistance either way.

This will show us how much he really wants the Knights. If he's willing to work through the crap he'll get from supporters and the media after the Tinkler thing then I reckon we can be assured of his motives. If he sets his sights on another club at the first sign of resistance we know he just wants an NRL club.

I can see a lot of positives but also a lot of potential concerns over this. I want to withhold my opinion though until we learn a bit more about him, his understanding of the club, and his vision for it.

I have a feeling the NRL are already pushing this to be honest...

Not really any point to taking the licence and starting again. The NRL already have almost total control. Members can bitch, but they cant stop a sale...

I love the idea of being bankrolled by a billionaire, but long term stability should take precedence.

The point of private ownership is good governance. It takes away the power from members and gives it to someone actually qualified. Its better to have a smart owner with no personal wealth than a lotto-billionaire.

Private ownership isnt about the owner tipping in his/her own cash (thats what Tinks didnt seem to understand). Its about implementing structures that will make the organisation survive and thrive, and make sure they cant be torn down by idiot members.

The best model is one where the owner doesnt contribute anything from their own bank account...

100%, this closed-minded attitude from others is exactly what I was worried about. That Herald headline is beyond ridiculous, that sort of thinking belongs in the Stone Age, writing something like this off before even giving it a chance. The same goes for Nick Dan and his comments. Just treat this on its own merits, separate from Tinkler, how hard is it?

Koukash could be the best thing to ever happen to this club or the worst, but writing him off the minute he rears his head just because he has money like Tinkler did, I mean come on.

Yeah why on earth would members be gun shy about a billionaire wanting to buy us who is full of big promises?

- Koukash hasn't made any promises, it's basically all speculation so far.
- Are all billionaires the same are they?
- Things didn't pan out with Tinkler as we'd hoped, but he hardly left us in the lurch. To me this is the big thing that people need to get their head around. You can be anti-Tinkler and still recognize that he didn't screw the club. Hell, he could hardly have done it even if he wanted to. A huge reason why he was allowed to own the club in the first place is because measures were put in place so that it was virtually impossible for us to get screwed over.

Why on earth do the members think they have any options available to them?

Why do the members think they are even "members"? Every Knights members is a glorified season ticket holder in this day and age. Wake up!

I hoped Tinkler would finally drag us away from the luddite-type thinking and into the 21st century at the very least... but unfortunately it's had the opposite effect and given the dickheads more fuel for their fire.

Koukash this week came out in the media and had ago at Salford supporters and I do not blame him. He has put plenty into that club and guess how many turned out last weekend. 2500. Yep. I am getting a sneaking suspicion he is going to ditch Salford eventually and his real ambition is an NRL club. He loves passionate people does this bloke. He is passionate about sport himself and wants to be a winner. What better city than Newcastle where he can become a local legend by re-enaging the people post Tinkler. There is no high stakes risk with this bloke. he asks for simple returns while he wears the full brunt of the financial side. He will not hide in the shadows. He fled Palestine FFS. The man knows what suffering is. He deserves every success he has. He worked his arse off for it unlike the boganaire who was lucky beyond all reason.

Going to back Pervy on this one. it is like the the average fan wants to forever be the underdog and the dream of another 1997 or 2001 is what they live for. Will never happen again without the right infrastructure. I have faith this fella is the real deal. His history shows he is. foreign owners will be commonplace in our game one day.

Nope

It is practically the opposite of Tinks. At least he is making the fans accountable for their actions too, which is how it should be.

A fresh, agressive perspective is exactly what Newcastle needs.

90% of knights fans are geniuss. The most sense you can get out of knights fans is on this forum.

Moving forward the only way to go is being bankrolled by someone.

Exactly, how else do we compete against wealthy clubs in bigger markets when we have no leagues club backing and don't have a favourable stadium agreement?

Every proposal should be treated on its relevant merits. You would expect that the mistakes of Tinkler would be considered before handing over the club to a private suitor again. It is fair and reasonable to see a proposal before hitting it on the head.

On the other hand it's not like we have a wealth of options at the moment. The landscape is obvously murky enough that Wests have not jumped in boots and all and are just sitting back and waiting to see what happens.

Wests not jumping in head first at the opportunity is a massive worry and tells you just how unattractive we are at the moment. I've heard in the past that Wests always looked to get a piece of the Knights, the fact they're not jumping at the opportunity to take over completely is curious to me.

Of course, I could be wrong and they've never had any interest.

There are no words for how embarrassing it is to have to share a team with some of you people.

And by 'you people', I just been BvM.
