Another low Act by Mr Gallen

Haven't yet seen the Gallen thing, will keep an eye out.
As for Quinn, after Pearce is on the ground, nothing happens at all as far as I can remember. Players walk over, the ref tells everyone not to touch him and then the trainer is out there... I could be wrong, but I don't recall any incident at all

At first Quinn puts his hands on Pearces throat, but to Quinns credit, he quickly pulled away the throat grip when he realised Pearce was injured.

Anything below 5 weeks is a joke if i was running the show he would get 10 and be on his last chance. Nearly all high shots are accidents in this game and guys can miss 7 weeks for them. That was an intentional act no accident about it. He is the lowest of low in the NRL i'd be happy enough if he was shown the door now no matter how well he plays footy.

Thing is, if the same thing happened to Gallen, he would have stayed down until the video ref reviewed the incident. Gallen is the biggest grub in the game. He is the sort of player that needs to be given suspensions to either rub him out of the game, or make him change his game.

To all that have posted here.... if Gallen was to sign with your club, you'd be happy as a pig in sh*t.

There was no 'eye gouge'. It was a facial that went for too long. A stupid thing to do, but hardly worth a suspension. That type of thing has been going on for a long time now. Players carrying injuries have a target on them. Everyone knows that.

Have a spoon full of cement people, and harden the f*** up.

you're an idiot. Facials are done with the palm of the hand, not with the fingers to the eye. I hope he gets done for this, he's ridiculously overrated anyway and not captain material.

This happened on the same nite that Todd Carney was bitten, it's not something the game needs and not something anyone in their rite mind would consider 'hard' or 'tough'.

who is the sharks captain btw???

gallen on paper. id say kimmorley still runs the show.

as for gallen. eye gouge..no. facial, effecting the player, causing stitches to come out. yes. grub/thug. id have to agree. he gives away too many penalties and drops it a fair bit. also, he is a bit of a merkin in the ruck. i wouldnt like him if he played for any other team, and i dont like a lot of what he does on the field. hes great when he plays hard, throws good offloads. tackles and thats it.

Poor effort for the club captain. You wouldn't have seen Andrew Ettingshausen behaving in such a way.

What did Ryan Cross get for his gauging charge a few years back?? Judging by what people are saying here you'd have to think he would get at least that.

I haven't seen the allegation as yet.... It seems all media and the NRL highlights have ignored it completely (unsurpising, given their gallen/bird love).

gordon tallis did point it out after the game and called it unsportsman like and referenced gallen's dive and the wink and "these sorts of things in his game he doesn't need"

lucky for gallen he is a (for some unknown reason) a media love child

Titans seething over injured Laffranchi
By Laine Clark
AAP
Old wounds were reopened by Sharks skipper Paul Gallen's "grubby" act in the Titans' 18-4 NRL win over Cronulla at the Gold Coast.

Gallen's 68th minute facial massage of Titans workhorse Anthony Laffranchi's heavily bandaged head aggravated a nasty cut - and the simmering feud between the two teams.

The Titans were privately seething over Gallen's act which forced the concussed backrower off the field for good, adding to their spiteful rivalry.

"It was a bit grubby," Titans co-captain Luke Bailey said of Gallen's tackle.

A senior Gold Coast player later added: "That's how they play".

The last time they met, the Titans camp called Sharks star Greg Bird a "diver' following a heated round 24 clash.

When Bailey went to elaborate on his thoughts on his former NSW Origin roommate, Titans coach John Cartwright cut him off at the post-match press conference.

"We will just have a look at it," he said, prompting an ironic laugh from the media.

Cartwright said Laffranchi had suffered mild concussion and a "nasty cut" and is in grave doubt for their next round clash against Canberra at their new Robina home Skilled Park on Saturday night.

"He probably shouldn't have went back on the field at all, he won't remember much of it tomorrow," he said.

Bailey was keeping his fingers crossed that Laffranchi would not be sidelined.

"When he's not there, you can tell straight away," he said.

"As soon as he goes off it's like you are missing two players.

"He keeps hitting behind the ruck and offloading at will. I just knew he wasn't there, and you miss that a great deal."

Laffranchi's battle with Gallen began in the ninth minute when the backrower suffered the shocking cut across his left eye in a head clash with the Sharks skipper.

He bravely came back late in the match but earned no favours from Gallen who pushed into Laffranchi's head in a tackle that earned the ire of referee Jason Robinson.

Co-captain Scott Prince potted over the penalty kick with 12 minutes left on the clock to end any chance of a rousing Sharks comeback.

Gallen was still shaking his head over the incident after the match.

"I just put my hand on his head to get up, happens every tackle," he said.
Cartwright expected the Titans to get "down and dirty" against the Sharks, coached by his former Sydney Roosters mentor Ricky Stuart.

"We were playing probably the form side of the competition," he said.

"I was thinking before the game that I knew it was going to be a tight game and we haven't won a lot of tight games.

"We haven't got down and dirty with sides. And we were playing probably the best side at that tonight." It brought a disappointing end to a controversial week for the Sharks.

Cronulla became embroiled in the shoulder charge controversy after losing prop Ben Ross for seven games for a hit on Melbourne's Cooper Cronk.

Backrower Reece Williams and pivot Brett Seymour (both knee) then broke down.

Stuart's anxiety Saturday night was not helped by Blake Green suffering what appeared to be an ankle injury.

I was just getting up sir.

The thing that infuriates me about Gallen is that he does dirty things in each and every game yet no one of importance ever picks up on it. As a matter of fact he is considered a living legend by most of the media.

A great point was made earlier by someone - if that had been done to him he'd have thrown an 8 year-old style hissy fit and lay on the ground till the video saw it. He's as tough as a paper bag and is the most embarrasing thing about rugby league at the moment - and that's saying something.
