I said if. Just trying to state many reasons why a best 17 doesn't take the field. Those who have the details make the decision they are all that matter

I remember once on 100%footy Gus going on about the top 30 rules and complaining that the NRL tell clubs what positions players can play in. The entire thing is a mess.

Well even if your 10 game bonus theory was true. He has been part of our final top 17 10 times.

NRL havent counted his game against Eels as a game played. But I would think being part of the 17 still counts for the bonus. It's not his fault Hook kept him benched.

You're just inventing possible reasons to make your opinions seem more valid.

Far from it. In a perfect world Aekins would be our fullback right now. Rules say he can't play

From 2016. We gave TMM $10k for making his debut why would we not give others?

Injuries throw a side out enough. Should be able to pick any contracted player to fill in

He was an import that was highly sought after. And what you think every player has the same incentives in their contracts?

Plenty will have various incentives. And there will be plenty who don't.

Depends on the player manager I guess. Can't be seen to play favourites if they get that for one client. They have nothing to gain from not trying to get similar for all the clients.

So yes I don't know for sure either way but it has happened before so nothing to say it's not now. As with anything on here it is all speculation

There is a big difference between club announcements and you using player bonus clauses that may or may not exist as a reason a player wasn't picked.

The second tier cap issues are well known and have been commented on by the club. Lets not speculate on specific contract clauses for players.

Just on those comments of Gus from his ch9 show, I think they’re a pretty big deal. Typically Gus is very, very careful with his words. To me the fact he’s showing he has some doubts is vey telling. More convinced than ever that unless we do some damage in the finals that Griffin won’t be here next year.

Did I say this is the reason he is not picked? I merely said due to salary cap For next year he might not be picked. The coach could hate him for all we know too. This whole site is purely guesswork

What did he say?

Video here.

He’s a lot more open that he usually is. There’s no dynamite there, but I still find it interesting.

@Pomoz

From Gus himself. Maloney carried 3 or 4 injuries into the game, Gus said he probably shouldn't have played but wanted to because he thinks the club needed his leadership.

Maloney was picked because he wanted to play. The coach could have said no. But it was a decision they both made. So it's on both of them.

It will get used against Maloney if they want to clear salary cap later and his form doesn't recover. As it will if we stay terrible and the coach gets changed

There is no doubt James Maloney is not 100% fully fit but I think you have to give him some credit and if he say's he is good to play (even allowing for his injuries) then I am happy with that. If nothing else he is needed for his kicking game to offer an alternative to Nathan as we in evidence against the Sea Eagles.

It's great if he puts his hand up to play. I'm sure we all want that desire. The problem comes if he does that and plays badly.

It was Jimmy's kick in the lead up to that last try. It was Jimmy's pass unto Blake for that 2nd try too.

Jimmy said earlier in this week that he was almost over his niggling injuries and the treatment was really helping.

We don't win on Saturday without his vision and leadership in those 7 minutes. Tamou alluded to this in an aftergame interview.

With all this speculation about Barret and Cartwright joining us, I'd just like to clear up that we already have Hoss signed up for next season. Correct?
