Even in 2020 Ciraldo will only be 35-36

He’s too young for mine, you need some age to gain respect.

I agree. As much as I have often thought in my professional life that my bosses should promote me faster and ignore my relative youth (said tongue in cheek) the reality is that there is a certain gravitas that only comes with age. Ciraldo is only 33 and would otherwise be coaching people almost his own age. For all we know he might operate as a good foil to Griffin - Griffin can be the more serious older leader, and Ciraldo can be the one who is closer to the “boys”.

Gus didn't appoint Garth Brennan when the opportunity presented so I would be surprised if Cameron Ciraldo get's the job if and when Anthony Griffin gets punted.

I heard this rumour prior to the Dragons game. Didn't post any more details as it just didn't sound right but here we are.

I've got to say the timing of this is very odd. Why wasn't Gus asking these questions at the end of the last season?

COULD IT BE GUS WANTED THE TWO HALVES RESTED ??

Definately a conflict of interest there. Gus was asked prior to the Raiders match and was pretty certain on his podcast none of the Origin stars would play. MCG to Canberra 2 nights after Origin 1? What a nightmare game for the players.

Papalii played as well and was just about best on field.

Gus just completely buried all of this on 100% footy.

All completely made up.

There was a review during rep round when players were away but it was a normal process and it was lead by Griffin.

And Cleary kicked us the field goal that won the game.

I'm not saying they are incapable of playing good football after origin. But it's a tough ask for the modern player. Especially debutants like RCG and Cleary.

It won't be buried that easily. The Moylan fiasco comes to mind.

This was also from the Telegraph when we were winning:

https://www.outline.com/BwUgXy

Speculation reignited last weekend about the future of Penrith coach Anthony Griffin, with suggestions Panthers players preferred the methods of assistant Cameron Ciraldo. Griffin has done a remarkable job this season, guiding the injury-plagued Panthers into equal second spot on the NRL competition table after 15 rounds. But there has been increasing innuendo players were obtaining more from Ciraldo than Griffin. There had been no suggestion Griffin was under pressure, just that Ciraldo may have assumed some of Griffin’s duties.

Assistant coaches are usually one of the boys. Age isn't the issue for me it is experience what has he had 2 pre seasons as a coach?

Tactics, team selection I'd back him over most coaches in the comp (most are average). The workload for a week, pre season prep etc is what brings young coaches down.

Gus said a few weeks ago. A coach becomes stale if at a place too long and players stay the same. It is why I don't see Griffin staying for another contract and explains sacking Ivan

So there is another reason we have turned into the 1999 Wests Magpies.

I think we have been reading our own press again and thought games would just be handed to us on nice shiny silver platters.

These blokes are fit as hell, even moreso than players of 20 years ago. There is no reason they couldn’t play multiple times almost every week. It’s like modern boxers fighting only twice per year. Whilst SRR fought every 2-4 weeks in his prime.

It’s something else in my opinion. We look beaten in the first 10 minutes. It looks to be attitude and psychological. That Roosters game did some damage that’s for sure, it potentially even ended our season.
