Nathan Gardner and Albert Kelly came to my work last week, they delivered an order for us, forgot to announce it here lol. I had a bit of a chat with Nathan, he seems keen on staying at Parra, but prefers to play fullback I believe, but is happy to play anywhere. Didn't speak to Albert, he was looking at all the memoribilia and photos in the foyer.

Gardner is a very talented player, you guys haven't even seen the best of him in under 20's yet, he kept me out of ball/nyc and I can understand why. He has a bigger x-factor about him then what we have seen so far, watch for him in the future, a player we must re-sign.

Stagger, how many seasons until you think Kelly will be ready for first grade?

I'd show him the ropes now if we had to - no hesitation.

Mortimer wasn't supposed to be ready either. :?

If they're good enough, they're old enough.

He's definately good enough now. So i'd give him a few games off the bench to begin with and then start him in the last few games of the year.

Agreed mate, Mortimer has taken to first grade like a duck to water. And Kelly is meant to be the better prospect, no harm giving him a go off the bench.

Agreed, i have said it a few times but i think Anthony Mitchell and Nathan Gardner are the 2 most talented players in NYC, Kelly is just behind them imo.....

I have to agree, I think Mitchell is without doubt the most talented NYC player at our club. Gardner is also ahead of Kelly IMO but unfortunatly Mitchell and Gardner have seen little football this year due to injury, they have played well with limited oppertunity but I do hope Gardner is moved back to fullback soon.

There is some enormous talent in that NYC team. The "Mitchell Bookends" are great, O'Hanlon will be a star no doubt, Gardner picks up the ball and runs his hardest, something even Hayne dosent do. He may be small but he has courage by the bucket full. Mitchell the hooker looks the goods as well.
And then there is Kelly. He is an excitement machine but how dedicated will he be. Didnt he already go "walkabout" once already this season? He has a "loopy" pass as well which opposition defence will target. In my mind he could be a superstar or he could be another Andrew Walker. You cant argue that he isnt poetry in motion on his feet though.

I know kelly is talented and what I have seen of him he goes ok. however he reminds me of a player that used to play junior football for the steelers about 12 years ago. the raiders signed him for a fortune it was all over the local papers like it was the end of the world. this guy was going to be a superstar. about 8 years later I saw his name twice once in the lower grades for the mapies and then 2nd grade for a union side. his name was jason little. if we don't sign kelly it is not the end of world

Im really suprized at how people can think Daniel Mortimer has taken to first grade already. I still see him struggling, although he has had a few good moments, they havent out weighed the ones where he has clearly struggled.

Kris Keating in my eyes still hasnt taken to first grade completly yet, but he is close.

I think they'll be some good news on O'Hanlon soon ;-)

btw, it was reiterated to me that we will NOT get into a bidding war with AK and we have offered what we believe what he's worth and won't be increasing it.

Thank God for that. You do know that there are other clubs waiting in the wings for this kid. I was told a couple of weeks ago that Manly have inquired hard about his services... and then you tell me that he is off contract at years end :shock::shock:

Heart attack time .... THIS KID WILL BE THE NEXT JUSTIN POORE!!

I agree 1000% !!! All this mort love is just a little difficult to take.
the kid has played 1 full game and 1 off the bench..

But if DA sees promise in the kid .. IN DANIEL WE TRUST

I agree Tezza but it definitely takes much longer for a half to adjust to 1sts than most other positions (on a level par with front row IMO) and both Morts and in particular KK have shown if we have the patience than they will be good enough in the future.

I know, haha. Parra fans will wank over even the smallest of potential.

And we wonder why we're constantly disappointed...

I see where you coming from HJ, but if Mortz simply aid KK with our kicking game and leaves most of the creative stuff up to KK we will be better off. I think Mortz is better than Finch and so we are no worse off then this year IMO.

Well we have a history of producing great juniors, but we rarely convert them to great first graders.

You cant blame Parra fans for that, its logical to think that if a player is good in the lower grade, he will eventually be good in 1st grade.

Dont be suprized if the Roosters think this kid, who is a legitimate local junior, is going to be their best player in years.

Its more of a pation thing then a logical thing. Which is what sport is about.

Im also curious as to why Kris Keating and Daniel Mortimer are already considered our long term halves. Neither has a great kicking game which is IMO the most important quality of a half.

A legitimate local junior? Kelly? Mate we picked him up from Kempsey ahead of about four or five other clubs. He's been here for three years.
