KK has probably shown more than Kelly in all games and he would be on about 50-60K IMO. Mortimer would be on maybe 25K (NYC cap player) and might move to about the same next year. We have Amosa who would be luck to be on 25K... guys like Pearce, Mullen are probably on 150K.

Sign someone for $150k who has had half a season in NYC and has not played consistent footy is definatly overs... if you think otherwise you are lying to yourself.

Unless Tim Sheens promotes juniors, this is the way to get halves. He wont promote Dunley or Lui, but signing Kelly will.

Im really suprized at how people can think Daniel Mortimer has taken to first grade already. I still see him struggling, although he has had a few good moments, they havent out weighed the ones where he has clearly struggled.

Kris Keating in my eyes still hasnt taken to first grade completly yet, but he is close.

I have to agree with you. I think some people on here are bit 'starry-eyed' about Mortimer. He may turn out to be brilliant, but he`s got a long way to go.

LOL@ Lardmate, bagging us for paying around 350k for a state of Origin prop and yet is happy to shell out 150k for an 18 year old who hasn't play first grade yet......... Talk about double standards......

Yet I hear that he is a must sign to Parramatta. You know you dont want to lose him.

Yet to dominate? I heard he scored 5 tries in a game.
he does look like a very talented player and i really hope the club can keep him but to put things in perspective, steve witt scored five tries in one game as well.

i think kelly is a freak of nature but for someone yet to prove their worth at the top level i wouldn't be paying more than $80k (maybe $100k) until he has proven he can perform at nrl level.

i hope he stays, proves his worth and earns the right to command big money from the club, but if he doesn't, good luck to him.

Caylo i like your effort but your way way way off....
KK was on 60k a few seasons back. He would be on at least double that now...
Mullen and Pearce would be on the 300k+ mark, not the 150k.

How the hell do they get paid so much... I understand Mullen to an extent because he has shown some consistancey but Pearce IMO is one of the worse halfback in the comp and would not comand more than 150-200K on the open market tomorrow. Even then I would imagine the only team that would pay that i would imagine would be Tiger or Roosters, every other team has an equal or better halfback IMO.

one of the worst? if it wasn't for him and Anasta the roosters wouldn't be able to come close to any team in the comp, he's up there as having one of the best kicking and passing game in the comp...

I thinks he is erratic and makes poor choices in attack and very dimentional. People kept giving it to tim smith for the same reason, but IMO Timmy is 100 times more consistent and more skillfull. IMO the following halfbacks currently in the NRL are better than Pearce (in no particular order)

Kimmorley
Prince
Wallace
Cronk
Thurston
Sandow (much more skill but just as inconsistent)
Jones
Walsh
Dureau
Orford
Hornby (better players then Pearce but not nessisarily natural halfback)
Benji (better players then Pearce but not nessisarily natural halfback)

In count that is 12 better halfbacks then Pearce in the comp, guys like KK, Herbett, and Porter could be better players but are inexperianced.

Pearce and Anasta are the reason that the roosters are down near the bottom of the ladder because they are one dimentional, after teams woke up to their kicking game and diffused them they have been found out.

Just to prove a point, Pearce has not set up a try since round 5 and Anasta has set up 3 since round 5. Pearce has 4 line break assists and 4 try assist in 12 games :S. If we compare that to KK who has been in a side with similar attackin prowess this year has 3 tries assists and 2 line break assist in 3 games at halfback (not counting 13 min against the Eagles)

That's one part of it. The other part would be that their forward pack have played like crap for the season thus far.

Yes member of their forward pack are struggling but this year Myles, Paea, Fitzgebon, Shak have all played well. OMealy was critzised and has played a few bad games but he showed in C/C game that he was still a aquality player. I think it is the lack of execusion which has added presure onto the roosters forwards not the other way around, Anasta and Pearce are the problem at the Rooster and I think Pearce could end up like another Finch who cant control a team and will end up at 5-8.
I main concern too is that Mortimer will be treated like the next big thing because of his surname and end up mediocer like Pearce.

This Albert Kelly rumour is bullsh*t in my opinion. I reckon he will stay.

Dont kid yourself, if the Tigers bit isnt true he will go to Storm for sure. A winning team, great players all around him, the NSW coach, Greg Inglis etc.

Futher more, after watching the rooster/GC game, I think the Roosters won the forward battle (OMealy, Myles, Symond, Fitzy and Paea all performed well) but Pearce and Anasta only had a hand in 2 tries. Pearce scored a try which was individual brilliance and poor defence but other than that he didn't look like troubling the GC line. The second try was a kick in behind the line and the only way Pearce knows how to set up his outside man. He is definatly more kick happy then Tim Smith, and does not know how to use his passing game.
I still maintain Pearce has the skills to be a good half, but probably the brain of a winger. Anasta is a smart player but lacks the skills to be anything other than a running 5-8 or a lock, they are a bad mix and Anasta/Pearce combp reminds me to the Anasta/Finch combo which struggled a few years ago. Pearce would be better served at 5-8 along side a Walsh or Wallace type player.
