I tell you what fellow supporters, someone is either yanking our chains or the club is subject to someone embezzeling huge amounts of money. We constantly hear we are in trouble with the salary cap and for that reason we are buying 20 year old kids who apparently show potential!!!!

Can someone tell me what is going on at Manly? They sign Cherry Evans for 10 million or something crazy and they are still buying every top shelf player going on the market. They have all but assured themselves of making the 8 next year.

We are buying kids or hacks and assuring ourselves we will be in a fight for the spoon. FMD I can't work out what is going on with this club. A panel of supporters who I read their comments on this forum, if given the opportunity and funds I am sure could purchase players that would make the club better and stronger....and not in debt. Any person who can run a house budget could do a better job than these fools.

I will continue supporting this club because that is what I have always done but geezus they are fu@king hopeless business managers.

Yep, WT really are the ultimate basket case of the NRL, no other club that comes to mind can lay claim to have the support of one of the richest men in Australia yet still
f##k it up.

Reports that Buhrer, Hiku and Lawrence could be forced out of Manly if the club makes a play for Dylan Walker.

Tigers sign Joel Reddy and Matt Ballin lol

Anyone know anything about Moses and Brooks getting their marching orders? Just saw a news break on 9 and the headline was "are these two headed out the door?"...

Theres an article on smh saying theyve been given an extension to decide if they want to take up the option in their current deal to extend their contract for an extra season.

Both are free agents at the end of 2016.

Wests Tigers' Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses delay call on future

Brad Walter
Published: November 17, 2015 - 6:15PM
Boom Wests Tigers halves Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses have been given permission to delay a decision on whether to take up an option to extend their contracts until next June.
Brooks and Moses are free agents at the end of next season but have a clause in their contracts entitling them to a further 12 months extension if they activate it by the end of January.
However, Brooks and Moses have asked to defer a decision until June and the Tigers have agreed to do so in a move that ensures coach Jason Taylor will have to contend with speculation about the futures of the pair at the start of next season.
The Tigers, who recently released star forward Martin Taupau to Manly in a bid to free up money for Brooks and Moses, have been linked with Sea Eagles prop Brenton Lawrence as the club looks to clear room to add South Sydney centre Dylan Walker to their rosters, but there are concerns about the back injury that limited him to one match this year.
Peta Hiku, Jamie Buhrer and Josh Starling have also been mentioned as players who Manly would consider releasing to sign Walker.
Lawrence, Buhrer and Starling are all off contract at the end of next season, while Hiku re-signed earlier this year until the end of 2017.
It is understood that Buhrer has already rejected an approach from Newcastle but Parramatta may be interested in Hiku, who has a relationship with coach Brad Arthur from his time as an assistant at the Sea Eagles.
The New Zealand Test back would be an ideal replacement for Will Hopoate, who is expected to join Canterbury once he resolves a legal dispute with the Eels over an offer for a new contract.
Hiku, whose former Manly teammates Kieran Foran, Anthony Watmough and James Hassen have already joined Arthur at Parramatta, is understood to have some issues with previous Sea Eagles management over third-party deals.
It is believed that Souths may seek a player swap for Walker, who is contracted for one more season but has been given permission to negotiate with rival clubs for 2016.
Fairfax Media has been told that Walker's contract with the Rabbitohs is worth about $250,000 and they would seek to replace him in their roster with a player on the NRL's minimum wage of $80,000.
By doing so, Souths would save $170,000 under the salary cap, which would help accommodate the return of Sam Burgess.
With Issac Luke released to the Warriors and Glenn Stewart to Catalans, the departure of Walker may be enough to cover the inclusion of Burgess, who the NRL have agreed to register for the value of his contract before leaving the Rabbitohs after the 2014 grand final triumph to play rugby union for Bath.
However, there is also speculation that Queensland Origin second-rower Chris McQueen and former Blues prop Tim Grant may also be released. McQueen has been linked to Gold Coast, who have room under their salary cap for more signings.

No one will pay them what they are getting here.

And you know we're going to upgrade them on their next deals.

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

By all reports they have been best mates since since age 13 and have always wanted to play in the NRL together. No one would take 1 of them for even close to their current wage, let alone both.

To me it's play to either A) get more money for themselves or B) a bit of a power play with the club I.e get rid of Taylor (or Farah, I wouldn't rule that out) or we're going

LOL no way they are leaving. Who in their right minds would pay anything close to what they are getting now? Brooks/Moses contract has been a huge strain on our clubs salary cap, neither of them are close to commanding that salary.

The best way for us to keep them is for HT to organise a fat TPA. Brooks and Moses are good marketing material but not YET worth a huge chunk of our salary cap

If they don't show anything this year I don't care if they don't offer them a contract. I am yet to see them take control of a game and give me confidence they are our future. Moses seems to be the one most likely but Brooks....well he better do something this year.

Further to what I said above, lets all see how Martin goes at the Panthers under a good coach and when given a chance....it won't be long and we'll all be doing the old "why did we let him go" posts. We have invested too much money in kids that are yet to prove their worth.

I've been questioning why we let him go from the day it was announced.

As have others in here. We know he has bootloads of talent.

We can't afford any better alternatives.

No club will pay them what they are on or more.

We're stuck with each other.

When you pointed this out MU I re-read the original story. I initially read it that we had the option. FMD, that was generous giving them control of the contract negotiations. I wish I could walk into my boss and tell him how my future is going to run.....

Oh well, I still hope they pull their fingers out next season. :D
