and FTR... i reckon GSP would beat Silva too... 5 rounds of mind numbing lay and pray.

and i still think Anderson is a much better fighter than GSP... its all about that wrestling...

i hope Silva fights exciting fights... fight Rashad... Maybe Carlos Condit or Nick Diaz... guys who will fight him.

I see your point shiz, but I think jones wouldn't want to deal with Andy's striking anymore than silva would wanna deal with a big ass wrestler like bones. The closest he's faced in terms of striking has been Lyoto and IMO Andy is ten times the striker Lyoto is. I'd love to see it happen but, would be all kinds of insane if it was announced.

Diaz/silva would be interesting as well but nick coming forward to those pin point lethal strikes surely couldn't last long. Again would love to see it happen, love Diaz and love Silva.

the problem for Anderson is the gap between him and JJ in the striking is nowhere near as big as the gap in the wrestling.

infact... JJ and his ridiculous reach negates Anderson's striking even more...

Nick Diaz... would be a fun fight... Nick would get KO'd... but he would go down fighting.

Yeah, again all good points mate, can't really argue with any of it. I just feel that Anderson elite level striking could possibly find holes and ways around bones reach advantage. But as you say the gap between their wrestling is pretty big. I also wouldn't underestimate Anderson TDD. The Chael fights has seen Andy work plenty with Munoz and you can see its improved.

Sucks hypothetically talkin bout this, make it bloody happen Dana!

I try to never predict how a fight will play out because if I did I would be rich off gambling.

However, I can never doubt Silva in ANY fight. He's proven to be too much of a champion for too long for me to start doubting him now. Sure, he can't be on top forever. But he's at that point where he doesn't believe he can lose and I almost completely share his arrogance.

Jones is nearly there. The skillsets he possesses are incredible and he uses his height and reach exceptionally well. On the stand up side - Jones beats most of his opponents with his reach and athleticism alone. Technically he's very open and vulnerable to counters and we all know what negates speed and reach and thats timing, which Silva has in abundance.

On the ground Jones wrestling will of course stand superior. On the ground Silva has been dominated for long periods during rounds against several opponents but has still walked away with the win. He must have some savvy on the ground.

In the end Jones size gives him a massive edge and maybe Silva is aware of that but there is no way that you can me convince that Silva is intimidated by him as a fighter.

Anderson can take a shot as well. I'm yet to see him dazed in his UFC. Chael knocked him down a couple of times but that was it. Silva wasn't rocked, same goes for when anyone has tried GNP on him. Takes limited damage off his back as well. Crafty on the ground without being elite BJJ practitioner.

The timing he posses is exactly what I was talking bout. Articulated much better, cheers Royce haha

In the last point, agree 10000% nothing will convince me that just because of size, bones beats Silva.

If only Fedor was still around and relevant. he'd be a beautiful fight for Bones.

Just read that Jon Jones and Chael will coaches in the next UF series then will fight on april 27th. Chael is gonna be so good to watch in the UF format. Could be some epic LuLz in terms of trash/trolling.

I can understand where the UFC is going with this. One of the marquee names of the organization matched up against the most gifted mouth since Karrine Steffans is going to garner alot of interest and money.

But from a fight fans perspective, this makes no sense at all.

Agree 100%, Chael is a force at MW because of his vastly superior wrestling and size, look at all the guys he fought recently, Silva, Bisping, Stann, Marquardt, none of them are wrestlers, Chael was able to get on top, against Jones, a guy with legit wrestling, deadly submissions, and vastly superior stand up, not to mention size I just don't see anyway he beats Jones

Maybe Dana isn't pleased with how the Nelson/Carwin is rating. Give Chael plenty of camera time to sell a fight and get plenty of ratings. Only reason I can see for it. Actually think Chael would be a great coach, he's great to listen to when he's not in troll mode. Rogan podcast rule even more so when he's on.

Jones is in for one hell of mental battering.

Don't get me wrong, Chael is very entertaining to listen to (Jones, not quite so). And I would definitely watch TUF because of him. But this will be his second consecutive shot at a title! How?

Now Sonnen/Evans or Rampage would double the entertainment value and be more fitting, since they are all always in fringe title contention.

Haha how's that for a curveball. Don worry about earning a shot, jus talk shit. Or maybe it's Dana Whites way of punishing hendo for getting an injury, machida turning down jones and rashad turning down texeira.

Hendo ain't happy at all is he. Goes from being a month - 2 weeks away from fighting Bones to now watching a training partner who hasn't fought at LHW for a while get his title shot. He seems to be getting lined up to face Lyoto next as well.

Gotta feel for the bloke but i guess PPV buys and TV ratings are what Dana cares about.

Jones will have Greg Jackson as an 'assistant' coach and Jackson has been in set before against renowned trash talkers like Koscheck and Rampage, and his fighters has always come out on top and with image intact. Funny thing about Jones being a coach is that I imagine he'd be younger than most of the guys he'll be coaching

the problem for Anderson is if Jon Jones is in his guard... its not like Chael... Chael can be on top for 5 rounds and you could barely have a scratch on you....

if Jon Jones is on you for 3 good minutes... your gonna end up looking like the elephant man and your more than likely gonna need a blood transfusion.

as for Andersons ground game... im not one to knock a legend like Anderson... but his black belt is openly mocked by some fighters.

Frank Mir has questioned Big Nog's black belts for years.

catching Chael in a triangle doesn't prove your guard is world class. getting caught in a flying scissor heel hook is even worse...

the ground would be an utter massacre if it went that way...

yeah... hes talked himself into this title shot for sure...

but to be fair he beat Stann & Bisping to get his rematch against Anderson... both those guys were on the cusp when he beat them,

Chael will be entertaining as hell... but JJ will destroy him,

I just hate how they use rankings and fan interest as excuses when it suits them. Should be more transparent.

The UFC brand was built on "making good fights". But how is a fight good when even casual fans know its a mismatch?

On a Silva fight though, if it were ever to come to fruition. Given Jones physical attributes and much vaunted creativity in striking, I'd be very disappointed if it went to ground.
