Are the Storm the most liked team in the NRL?

never said he was a bad buy. he went to the Bear on principle i.e staying with the ARL.

Signed in 1997. Gary Larson was playing front row by then.

The stadium was ready for norths in 2000 but they were insolvent by the time that rolled around and they merged with manly.
the point is that in 1999 we played our first 8 games away on the basis we'd have the ground after that. Obviously it f**ked up big time (rain, structural deficiences) meaning we didnt have a ground. If we played the 99 season as normal(home every second week at NSO)we'd have at least a greater chance of having a good financial base for that important season then move to the CC to the newly built ground.

We still didnt need Muir, that was a stupid buy and waste of money

On the topic/subject....we'll always be admired by certain sections of media/fans/players etc for the fact that we have a great coach who turns nothing players into good players, one of the best backlines in the comp, the biggest star of the future in Ingliss and the heir apparent to the Australian #9jersey.

We will have those that hate us because of Ribot's connection with the Storm and the fact that the Storm "killed off" traditional sides.

We will have those who hate us for the times we upstaged them eg Dragons and for nfortnate on-field events eg Tigers.

Most of all our haters will be the media like Raaaaaaaay Hadley and dickhead administrators like Denis Fitzgerald. Why? Becase the Storm have been succesful and will continue to be for many years to come.

Bugger the crowds! Even the powers that be at the NRL have admitted that they haven't done enough to help Melbourne out and hopefully that will change once Origin has been and gone and people will take an interest in the Storm and the game in general! Its cliched but look how long it took frontier clubs in the AwFuL to be a success on and off field!

Calls to have us axed or relocated on account of our crowd averages might be viable if we were in in a South Sydney sitation where we were morals to finish with the spoon year after year. But until such time as that happens people need to appreciate the Storm for the brand of football they play, the calibre of their players, coaching staff and recruitment savvy....

Oh, and the fact that at some point in time the Storm WILL hand you your arse! :D

ye like we had a full strength team. Were you one of the melbourne supporters ringing the cowbells at parra stadium that day.

Agin, 13000 average and we are coming 14th, lets compare that with your average.

Read my above post. I'll just say to you that you average around 4000 more than us, you've been in the comp around 60 years, this is our 9th. You're in a city where league is the number one sport, we're in an AFL dominated city. Now considering those facts all it shows is that it's pathetic the the Eels are only averaging 4000 more than us

Oh and i was at the Parra game. Great day that one :D

I like the Storm, if it's good enough for AwFuL to raid our Heartlands, it's good enough for us to raid back.

No one hates the Melbournes? obviously never spoken to a tigers fan.

I hate them for what Kearny/Bai did to McCracken
I hate them for what Williams did to Buckets
I hate them for what Slater did to Skando.

The only 'fondness' ive ever had for the Melbournes is when they beat St George in 1999, and when they dropped Slater to Norths.

Their whole team is the work of the devil, and despite getting looked after like a sick child they cry like the opressed. get over it.
(NOTE: this is directed at the club, not the supporters. I have respect for what their 20 or 30 supporters have to put up with with channel 9 bs and stuff, even if they do look like jack asses in their purple jerseys, or all white with a lightning bolt pyjama shirt)

if league is so successful, why don't any storm games attract near sellout crowds?
billy the brain donor said:
1. Imagine waiting till after midnight on Friday and Sunday Night to watch Rugby League for half a year.
2. Imagine sitting at Wentworth Park watching the rooster play a match or a training session agianst the dragons or playing at sh*tney Showground watching the bulldogs play the dragons or watching a game at Carara Stadium. That is what Olympic Park is like. A sh*thole of a ground.
hey stupid - parra still drew crowds to cumberland, saints still drew crowds to kogarah - these facilities were terrible. orana park was a sh*t hole & drew crowds. redfern was a disgrace & rabbitoh fans still rocked up. don't crap on about poor facilities.

the fact is that if onfield success of the type that the storm have enjoyed in almost a decade can't bring better attendances than clubs who have had less success than you learning to speak english, the experiment has failed.

gregstar said:
why have storm season attendances deteriorated over the years, despite the teams' continued competitiveness?

We have had dickhead CEOs who trying to make a sydney style club in which it did not work.
idiot - is there such a thing as melbourne style league? how else is a club going to attract crowds down there playing a sydney game? by playing afl?

coight tickler said:
For the past 18 months since a Melbourne CEO came into the storm, we have had improve crowd averages. Although, they are small but they are improving. Once the New Stadium is done, More people will be coming as people are staying away because of the crap stadium.
what absolute crap! you played out of docklands for a couple of seasons & still couldn't draw sh*t! and all this with a successful team!

tell me melbourne fans - when the onfield performances dry up & the team starts to regularly miss the finals - what then?

This is a post i made for another St George supporter Gregstar but you can apply it to yourself as well. You're all whingeing and whining little bitches and judging by the drivel that's come out of your gib in this thread, you're the biggest biatch of them all

Ice777 said:
I have a sneaking suspicion that the anger you display against the Storm is born out of the fact that everytime we play you we bend over and spank your arses like the little bitches you are ;-)

The club and supporters haven't recovered since 99 and all i can hope and pray is that we face you in the GF again this year and make those psychological even deeper. You aren't the Dragons when you play the Storm, you really should be known as the bunnies because that's what you are to us. Much like Cullinan was to Warney :D
