Are we playing finals in 2021?

Looking back on the season, how many games stand out as a good 70-80min team performance? Wins against Manly and Cowboys are the only two that jump out without going back and looking at every match.

Every other match, we seemed to play poorly for 70-80min, or maybe one good half footy.

Based on two results so far this round, we will officially STILL be in the 8 by the conclusion of this round.

The win against the Dogs becomes even more important all of a sudden, win that and then we've go around 90% chance of being in the finals. Only way we'd fall out is if we lose against the Titans and Broncos and the teams below us win their remaining games.

Yeah if we beat the Dogs tomorrow then we go 4 points clear of the Titans and Raiders who are both direct competitors for spots. Then if we beat the Titans I think we’d be guaranteed a spot in the top 8 regardless of final round results.

If we win our three remaining games that’s 6 on the trot which is an ideal scenario going into a knockout game. The ideal scenario would be that we play Parra who are on the slide. That game could be very winnable.

You know what, I'm still not sure we'll be playing finals football.

We have two games left - the Titans and the Broncos.

I think it's more likely we lose both than win one. Losing both means we finish 11-13 and there should be a couple others on that too and they'll have better for and against than us.

We have a genuine strike weapon in Best that we absolutely refuse to give any ball to, instead we have Pearce taking 20 runs inside the red zone and not breaking a single tackle

When we went left, we made early passes in space to Barnett. Not best but Barnett for some reason. Could not for the life of me understand what was going on there...

Assume Barnett was decoy running but was given the ball instead of Best.
Needs to be sorted out, don’t mind decoy running but let’s be selective with the pass, doesn’t need to be Best all the time but surely more often

If Best is getting good early ball, there shouldn’t even need to be Barnett running a decoy- he’d be a good 10m+ from the opposition.

I just completed our season in my simulation and there's a chance we finish 10th, which I believe is the lowest we can finish this season. It's really not that crazy to think we finish outside the 8.

Up against the Titans without Klemmer and Daifiti will be way too much for us. Our go forward will struggle hard and our backs already struggle to make metres.

Then there's the Broncos. WE SHOULD win, but they are no pushovers and will want to finish the season strong in front of the Queensland fans.

I know we haven’t been setting the world on fire but we’ve played some tough and determined footy over the last month and I’d back us in to do it again against the Titans and Broncos. Winning form does count for something imo.

Also the pressure is all on those sides below us to perform and they don’t have easy draws either. Cronulla have to play Melbourne and Canberra play the Roosters so tough assignments for both of them.

Given how jaded we are as a fan base I can understand the lack of optimism but right now I’d rather be in our position rather than the position of the Titans, Raiders & Sharks.

I think we make it and I don't think there's anyone that is super confident we are there yet, but it is a reminder that a lot can still happen this season.

Heck the Warriors can still make it, even after today's loss! This could be a year where 10-14 gets you in.
