Haven't really learned anything from that squad. Harris has said he would like one more shield match under his belt. I doubt the selectors will risk him for the first test. Clarke obviously with a serious question mark. The way the selectors are treating Hughes, I don't think they'll pick him. He gets shielded from all the big games. He's obviously being groomed as Rogers' replacement in the future, whenever that'll be. I think they realize that the next time he is picked for a long term role, it will be his last chance. A couple more failures in the middle order in a one off test for him will do his confidence no good at all.

I hate to say it, but I'd probably give Hughes a crack at 4, if those were my options, Darsh is terrible and Ferguson is meh.

if the mental midget is to play, then he opens. we can steady the ship better if an opener gets out early. Plus he's less likely to see any spin as an opener, so he's a chance of hanging around for more then 3 overs.

If you put him in the middle order, he'd start a collapse.

Smith isn't ready for captaincy. On the field, he's more than likely got the goods. But there is a lot more to being the Australian test captain than the on field stuff. Firstly, you have to deal with the media a lot more than you do when you're just a member of the team (unless you're Twatto the attention whore). You've got to be very media savvy which from what I've seen and heard Smith needs a lot of work on.

Secondly, although not a selector you have to deal with the selectors, something you don't really do when not captaining. You move from a position of everyone bring your equal to having a say in the direction of your mates careers.

Smith has only really established himself in the team in the last 18 months. I think he's the next long term skipper but a couple more years serving an apprenticeship under Clarke and Haddin would be better for him at this stage. If Clarke is unfit, Haddin should lead. Haddin will play.

I usually reckon you have got good opinions on cricket but you couldn't be more wrong there.

Sheffield shield average this season: 81 with a High Score of 140
Average last season: 56.5 with a High Score of 110

I have never been impressed by this guy, hopefully one day he will get the chance to prove me wrong.

If Clarke isn't fit then Ferguson should come in. If Clarke is fit, Ferguson should come in for Watson.

Captain Sissy gonna be smug and retire around the same age that the Ponting's/Kallis's/Sangakkara's/Tendulkar's did, thats another 5 years away.

Smithy has another 5 years to wait for a chance to be Captain.

Clarke's body wont hold up that long

Captain Sissy will retire from ODI's after the World Cup and just focus on Test Cricket i reckon,he will definitely want to get to 10k Test runs.

Captain Sissy will spite Smith and hang around for a few more years yet.

Clarke's shaggers back has hindered him for too long.

He needs to go celibate and extend his playing career

If Clarke was that way inclined he wouldn't have declared at 329 not out when he had 400+ easily in his sights.

Clarke won't make the same mistake Punter did.

All this crap about Clarkey being fit or not fit is getting a bit old.

For mine, he is not playing cricket atm when he should be so he has no current form which is more to the point, I know he is our skipper and needs more slack than other players but he's hardly faced a ball in the last 6 or 8 months which would be my concern. You cant just sit out for that long and expect to make runs as his recent poor form showed.

He needs to man up and step down.
