They're all pretty mediocre, tbh... the whole team is just average.
But, India and RSA aside, so is everyone else
Sri Lanka's batting line up looks better than mediocre in my view...
RSA would be the best team in the world if they had a decent spinner... they have an awesome batting line up and the best opening ball attack.
I think there is a global shortage on bowlers in the world at the moment.
Take spinners for example: Murali, Kumble, MacGill and Warne's retirements left the mantle to Singh. Singh has been chucking pies in 2010 and now seems to be reinventing himself as an allrounder. That leaves Vettorri: well he's hardly cleaning sides out in the second innings. Swann(2) and the Shaqib Al Hasan (12) are actually performing the best in my view. It's rare in the modern days to think an Englishman as possibly the best spinner in world cricket...
Mendis was meant to be the next big thing, but once people got used to his quirks he is actually going to have to think to get wickets now.
Seam Bowlers: I have not researched this but as I was watching IND v NZ the commentators said of all seam bowlers currently playing tests Zaheer Khan has the most wickets. Seriously - thats a concern. Dale Steyn is clearly the most consistent and best seam bowler in test cricket at the moment. But its daylight to the next few candidates... this is even clearly displayed in the official rankings - Steyn's 100 points (864) clear from the next seamer (Morkel 761) and hes only ranked in the mid 800's :O
Asif is third despite being banned for allegledly being paid to underperform.
Conclusion: what are you guys complaining about your seamers for? You're better off than everyone bar RSA. Not only do you have Bollinger (8) and some days when his mind is in the right place Johnson (7): you at least have competetion for spots from Harris, Siddle and co.
The numbers do not lie. Time for your batsmen to step up - there is not a single Australian batsman in the top XIII test batters. I cannot remember a time where this was so.
