Listening to Greg Chapell on Inside Cricket its totally up to Dougy's fitness to see if he pulls up sore after todays session.

Siddle appears to be back up for Dougy if he isn't right.

Yeah but what drives me mental is that they clearly want Siddle in the side at any cost. I don't understand why Siddle is worshiped by these noob head selectors.

Good to see Khawaja next in line on the batting front, guess Smith was indeed in there to replace North or maybe even take Hauritz spot as spinner.

If they want a backup..surely you go with someone in form..like say Copeland for instance...or Harris...or Chis Swan (don't laugh he is gosh damn good in Brisbane). All 3 are in better form than Peter "I am God" Siddle.

I'd say he's looking at North's spot, he's not a front line spinner and he should bat alot higher than 8.

was harris not considered because of injury of because of form? (how the latter could be possible im not sure)

im also for the sentiment on here that we need to lose this 5 zip to trigger a clean out. we most probably deserve to anyway if siddle north hussey play anywhere near the majority of tests.

Thing I don't get with the selectors is if Smith can replace North in the top 6 then there should be no reason why he can't do likewise for Clarke, he'd still bat where ever he was meant to bat when he replaced North just the other two will do some shuffling. Clearly a lack of confidence in Hussey and North which really means they should have been dropped.

Must be injury, not even the crazy selectors can say Harris didn't deserve to be there in terms of form.

Bingo!! But we wouldn't want Ricky upset to lose a couple of his mates. Plus Usman,Smith and Ferguson are not married

I know it's been done to death...

But if someone had played 35 tests, scored 2146 runs with 4 centuries at an average of 37 you'd probably think they were in the NZ middle order, wouldn't you?

Harris was injured about 2 weeks back and just coming back now, otherwise he was probably our most in form bowler

most of our batsmen in our "in form" era were averaing over 50 yet now our selectors seem to be satisfied with mediocrity

not only are they satisfied, they seem to reward it by keeping them in the team

I know, but Hussey has been a very ordinary test bat for a long time now, and North has never been anything but...

To others it seems awfully like you're heading back to the late 80's... and several of the alternatives being discussed (I know not all, but Ferguson and White) have mediocre first class records...

I can't believe the only plan of attack our quicks have is o bowl short at Strauss.

He'll f**king carve that sh*t up and score at will. Especially considering only Doug can bowl a decent bouncer, all the others are away from the batsmen, too short, or not short enough

He is fit now. How can he be fit for a FC match on Friday but not a match on Thursday. He was injured, his knee flared up. It is fine and he is bowling in the nets already and is playing on Friday. So as I said it makes no sense in omitting the most in form bowler we have in the test squad. Would I play him, not sure. But I sure as heck would rather punt on Harris lasting 5 days than going with the Victorian!
