It's a middle of the road dark ale. A bit thin, nothing special, but certainly not marketed as more than it is like dos equis or fatyak has been.

Fat Yak is heavily marketed? I've always liked it fine, but I've certainly not found it's had the over-saturation like Crownies or Teddies or Corona has.

I imagine Dos Equis is a bit played out in the US, but it's always a novelty when I find it here. Nice change of pace from Corona when I want a light summer beer I can just throw back.

Seriously. I understand that some people might feel the mainstream "craft" beers are overpriced...but they aren't, really. By the standards of five years ago, sure. But CUB and Tooheys charge out the f**king anus for any of their products. For EG (at work, big box store full price)

Melbourne Bitter $50
Coopers Pale $50
VB $48 ($55 for a 30 pack)
Carlton Draught $48
Reschs Pilsner $55
Tooheys Old $49
Tooheys New $49
TEDs $48
Pure Blonde $48
Carlton Dry $49
Crown $55.90
Boags Premium $56
Corona $55

Beer prices have gone through the roof, simple as that. Compared to $50 for f**king Melbourne, or $55 for some Mexican blokes tequila tainted piss, I think $58 for Fat Yak (as the example here) is fantastic value.

Of course you can buy stuff on special, and there is always heaps. We had Coopers $40 the other week. But even then, Fat Yak is $49 at the moment and Squires Hop Thief $52. Still great value.

Agree 100%, got a little bit of time off so grabbed a couple of cartons of my all time fav, always No.1 on my list. $55 @ DM's it seriously shits over most beers I've had, and it's not brewed locally under licence.

I was putting away the Peroni at my refs presentation dinner a few weeks back and was barley drunk. Weak as piss.

Brother bought over a case of Squires Nine Tales the other night. Wasn't too bad. Definitely made the Ben Lomond Christmas party easier to attend.

There's a few in their range I really need to try. Quite liked all of those I have had.

Blue Moon is fine. Decent light wheat beer, normally they're far too heavy for a session.

Lazy Yak is balls. Hop Thief is the best mass produced beer on the market

Little Creatures Bright Ale was the biggest hipster beer on the market circa 2008. Along with two dollar tacos and popped collars, Brisbanes inner suburbs was awash with that stuff. Not half bad.

I've hijacked beer buying responsibilities for Christmas because I can't abide by another bottle of Crown Lager.
