It’s still a bullshit title for both this thread and that article..

He hasn’t claimed “responsibility” for the poor form.. He says he needs to lift his game and that others across the park do too..

Just more media bullying of their latest whipping boy..

Semantics my dear Muzby- He acknowledges his leadership role and with that goes responsibility. That's why he's paid the big bucks- to steer the team around- be a drovers dog in effect. .

Outside of some deadwood within our playing roster our real problems are all to do with SGI football management includeing the CEO, fitness staff, coaching staff and recruitment/pathways/retention staff.

Sign the following players for 2020:
  • Ramien - right centre
  • Gagai - left centre
  • RCG - prop (using JDB's salary cap).
  • Fill any other backup/reserve grade spots with our juniors.
Let go the following Players at seasons end:
  • Dufty - swap for a good big fast winger/fullback if possible
  • Field
  • Maranta
  • Timm - would rather keep him if possible
  • Kerr - would rather keep him if possible
  • Allgood
  • Latimore - retired
  • Graham - may retire
  • Robson - going to NQ
  • Masters - going to Souths
  • Aitken - swap for Ramien
  • Lafai - swap for an ESL outside back/fullback
  • And maybe some others who we do not want.
Management staff:
  • Let go Johnston
  • Hire Gus Gould on a two year deal as CEO.
  • Let go Mary, his coaching staff, Millward and his staff and the current fitness staff.
  • Hire a new head coach Toovey or Griffin and let the new coach hire his own coaching staff, fitness staff and recruiting/pathways/retention staff.
So our run-on 17 for 2020 could be:
  1. Lomax
  2. Saab
  3. Ramien
  4. Gagai
  5. Ravalawa
  6. Norman
  7. Hunt
  8. RCG
  9. McInnes
  10. Vaughan
  11. T Sims
  12. Frizell
  13. Leilua
  14. K Sims
  15. Lawrie
  16. Blacker
  17. Ford
Coached by Toovey or Griffin.

So it is very important that we act now on the management changes, sign Ramien, Gagai and RCG for next season and beyond ASAP and give young players like Blacker and Ford a spot on the first grade bench till end of season.

Sorry delusional post as is the wording of the title. Your first statement words are the most accurate and you should of stopped at woes.
The only problem with Ben Hunt is his own onfield mental demons which hold him back trying stuff when things go wrong. Bennett in the main got the best out of him because hes a good coach and had a good squad around him which is what every half needs.
We may have paid overs but whose fault was that we were in such a position we needed to do that.
Hunt is surrounded by a team with no go forward, no second phase, no support play, limited nouse in the backs, worst defensive record and a team brainwashed to stay in their lane following set tackle plays, making sure they are in position for the next. Lets not play football and when Hunt did what he did in the 1st half last week his backs should of been there, reacting and supporting to collect that crossfield kick before going into touch and scoring.
Why dont you start picking on the other similar paid players at clubs that are underperforming and ATM there is a stack of them not just highlight the couple of standouts
How about Josh Reynolds, Klemmer, Ash Taylor, Russ Packer, Foran, Milford, Cleary

For the simple reason, I don't care about those clubs- SGI is the club I support- we are all passionate about this club and have opinions- I see a major problem with Hunt at this club and the ripple effects on player performance (Norman is struggling to be the dominant half that Hunt needs to support him) and club spending -even if we had a brilliant coach. I call it as I see it- if you want to characterise it as 'picking on him"- so be it.

While I'm sure most of us would agree that Mary is the architect of Dragons woes while Ben is simply the builder, I wish that both of them would fall on their respective swords and resign.

Hunt is not a $1.2M/year half-back, hooker or anything. He must have been incredulous when Millward and co threw this amount of money at him for five years but it is now a serious mill stone around the club's neck. It is preventing them from going into the transfer market and buying a player they desperately need - like Jessie Ramien.

The Sydney Swans have made the same mistake with the nine year, $10M deal offered Buddy Franklin- who, unlike Hunt, is a genuine superstar. However, one person cannot make a team. and the Swans are learning this the hard way as they continue their inexorable slide down the table. The Swans haven't won a flag in the six years he's been at the club and Franklin is getting older and struggling to recover from injuries. He's still got three years to run his contract and many good judges have advised the Swans to trade him.

I'm sure that Hunt will stay for the money and my plea will fall on deaf ears but, just in case, Ben -if you're reading this and you care as I do about this club- you will save yourself untold angst and earn the everlasting gratitude of many St George supporters like me if you walk away from your contract with SGI and return to play in Queensland.

PS I hear the Gold Coast are looking for quality players
Benny Boy. The horse has bolted. The fat lady has already sung.
to take responsibility. Our season is over...

You seriously believe that Mary could have done a better job than Walters as SOO coach of Queensland?- what are you smoking Benny?
I didn’t say that, but nice deflection!
What I said was that there’s no evidence that Walters is better than Mary. His ESL coaching record is horrible and SOO result are average..,and even if they were any good, that’s no indication that he would make a decent club coach over a full/multiple seasons. You only need to see the SOO vs club results of Meninga and Bellamy to see that.

Funnily enough, the short term success that McGregor found in 2015, 2017 and 2018 would make an argument that Mary wouldn’t be a horrible SOO option. He seems to be able to rev players up for one off games before he burns than out, he wouldn’t need to put much effort into strategy and best of all, it gets him the f**k away from our club! He would just need to stay away from team selection.

I cant imagine Dragons Footy creeping into the SOO side.

Vas used to sleep with a Benji doll do you sleep with a Benny Hunt doll?
Wouldn't matter what anyone said you instantly leap too his defence.
Just face the facts he is far from being a great half.
Indeed he is not the worst of our problems in the backline but considering he is in the spine and should be taking loads of responsibility he is not performing well himself nor is he lifting the others to any heights.
Silly mistakes, brain fades, missed tackles and poor kicks have dogged him since his arrival and he has been around long enough to keep them to an absolute minimum but that is not the case.

Did you even read my post before trying to get all personal again?

I’m guessing not..

I’m taking aim at those putting all the blame on Hunt.

It’s poor reporting, click bait and a simple cop out by the media..

Hunt’s not the problem, the coach is..

So he went into a rebel store...put on a NSW jersey that was for sale and got a mate to take a photo of him wearing it?
No, it’s a doctored image but I CBF spending extra time doing it in photoshop...

As I said you defend him at all costs and your post quoted above simply confirms that.
If you don't think Hunt's lack of consistent form is part of the problem you are completely delusional.
