you're assuming that Stone is going to knock back the long term offer TSG have suggested they are going to offer him regardless of whether Bennett comes or not. if we get Bennett, they would like Stone to be his assistant and then take over afterwards, and if we miss out on Bennett then he will be head coach. Tinkler Sports Group have suggested that they rate Stone very highly and he is part of the plan. i doubt they would cut his pay, either.

I'm just saying the haters shouldn't completely rule us out just yet. The way were behaving in the papers (and by that I mean not talking to them) is EXACTLY how Bennett would want us to behave if he's considering us. Both the Broncos and Tinkler have opened their big mouths to the papers, we haven't.

Maybe we learnt the lesson of when the Roosters got burnt.

All this column says is that we're not out of running. It's not going on like the columns I was criticising yesterday. This isn't about believing or not believing news stories based on how much the stories suit me and my team.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to have a problem with stories that are essentially calling Wayne Bennett an outright liar. I think he deserves more respect than that.

A column saying "don't rule souths out yet" fits with what Bennett himself has said (about not making up his mind yet).

Yes it is, it's exactly what it's about. Every single time someone quotes a newspaper article that doesn't suit your argument you can't dismiss it quick enough, just as when you find one to suit your argument or counter someone elses you can't post that quick enough either.
