That's a good point. Many people have already invested their hard earned on season tickets and memberships.
Unless the merchandise store can be competitive with other retail outlets, I think we'll find that better bargains can be found elsewhere.
I certainly think that this is an issue that needs to be taken up with the NRL. Surely some of this stuff shouldn't be in the $150 - $200 price bracket. Surely production costs are FARRRR less than this, and greed has got the better of the the NRL, as it has with most other sports.
Let's get the jump on the new western Sydney AFL bunch of wankers and undercut their merchandise before they even get a chance.
Suity
They would be stupid to put the prices higher in the shop then at Rebel or Peter Wynn's.
MITS, is the price of the polo you bought higher then Rebel, etc?
Like I mentioned, the shop will have items that you cant buy elsewhere...
Not quite sure, I haven't purchased anything at Winnies for about 4 years and always buy at the club, partially for my 10% discount. I remember going through Rebel and Mick Simmonds in the City and they were more expensive than the Parra Footy Heaven.
Jodeci, I think the main point that people are trying to get through is that Winnies will price match if you find the same item, cheaper elsewhere ASAIK including sales.
Now when the Parra Footy Heaven had a 10% discount that would be hard to beat most of the time, but without that and without a promise to match or beat any stores advertised price including specials, some people will just as well send there business elsewhere.
I had a discussion recently with a Psychologist about people and loyalty in purchasing, sadly for Western Culture, no matter how much advertising you put out there to buy aussie or be loyal to the club, when it comes to the crunch people will pick the cheaper or easier item because the purchase is all about them. In the asian culture that was compared against, no matter where a member of the culture is, if they have the choose of an item from their home country and a comprable one from another country, they will always choose the one from their home culture.
Suity, a little tip, and I am sure our good mate Parra-matters might add on to this one, while production might be cheap or what ever, the club purchases items and sells them at the RRP. The margin the club makes is not enough to satisfy a percentage sales cut of mid teens that some venues are asking for the club to sell merchandise at that venue.
