That he likes Grinspoon about 10 years after they put out anything half decent says something...

I remember when I was about 12 or 13 I think, watching Easy on Rage on the ABC...

Don't let facts get in the way of a good Timmah bash. ;-)

u huh
I used to like that band areound the time of Easy. WHat the hell went wrong after that
Easy went wrong with that...

Guide to Better Living was their one and only good album. Songs like the Rock Show on Easy are what gave them mass teenie appeal and led to the garbage that later followed. Needless to say they'll still be worth a watch at BDO for Black Friday and Just Ace.

Agreed.

GTBL is one of the greatest Aussie albums ever made.

I just f*cking pray Black Friday is played, because I can see all post-Easy garbage being played for the entire set.

Guide to Better Living and the Pushing Buttons EP were pretty great. Anything else has just been rubbish.

But Timmy...don't you see that you going on how brilliant they are now makes you part of the problem, not the solution? :)

Black friday was their best song, no doubt about that.

I still think Easy was ok, Secrets was a good song, a few other good ones.

Mind you i havent listened to the cd in a few years.

I've seen most of those bands at the BDO...

Pretty uninspiring line up. May check to see if Muse are having any side shows.

Any news on this Pete. I read a rumour they were going to play a show in Sydney wth the Sydney Symphoney Orchestra. But that sounds like BS. Id really like to see them, but not interested in BDO.

So basically, you're not allowed to like any band's music if it's new because it's "never as good as the original"?

No, it's more when they seem to deliberately go away from their original sound to a more commercial sound.

And usually late releases are not as good, hard to get that original hunger afer a band has made it

Absolutely awesome. Loved those both. Didn't really like Easy, New Detention was a return to form but then Thrills, Kills and Sunday Pills was absolute rubbish. Alibis and Other Lies was better, but I have to say their latest album, Six to Midnight, is probably the best thing they've released since Better Living.

Absolutely phenomenal album.

i remeber the days when you could still buy a bdo ticket in november

Parklands is miles ahead of Homebush. The Goldy BDO has such a better vibe than Sydney - Sydney always seems to aggressive and the Goldy is just so relaxed.

That Timmah is going shows the mainstreamness...

If the second lineup is sh*te i will sell my ticket.

The biggest problem with BDO is the crowd these days, just so many twats there for the event rather than the bands in particular, shirtless blokes with sunnies, teenybopping chicks with massive glasses, that type that are a dime a dozen around the place. It can ruin a band/event when you run into these people who clearly dont go to shows normally, and bought a ticket cos it was the thing to do.

I didnt go to the last one and wont be going to this one, and this is exactly the reason why. It also seems to be far more crowded than it used to be.
