im with you avenger. when it was revealed we are after cronk i was happy, but the way he and inglis have carried on like theyre higher than the game and the salary cap i would not want merkins like them at my club ever! id take a retiring kimmorley over cronk anyday of the week at least he is an honest human being.

i honestly wouldnt be surprised IF we still continue chasing cronk tbh after this relevation they (storm) will not be able to hold onto those 4 players fairly. Cronk and INglis will be the ones that go if the NRL r serious about keeping face about this

I've also jumped on the wagon, i no longer want those guys at the club, however i know for a fact that atleast 1 director desperately wants Cronk on our roster next year.

well I'd be forced to forgive them too Marty, but just after hearing all that..I'm now against it!!

maybe I'm just too emotional atm..
Me too mate, when i heard they were over the cap last year by nearly a million man i lost it  I don't want any of those Storm scumbags anywhere near this great club.

Yeah I think you are. Anyways by the looks of it Cooper is on (comparative) chicken feed down there, so if he wants to stay it won't be hard to keep him under the cap. Still, it will be interesting to see what happens as the cracks get bigger and slowly break apart the team.

Cooper's family must question him if we have given him the opportunity to play for possibly double what he's on down there. After all he has a small earning window etc. Once the (alleged) brown paper bags stop, he might look at our offer in a different light.

surely the storm big 4 and anyone else on that list wouldn't be wanted by other fans from any clubs at the prices they are asking ,take a big pay cut to minimum wages for a few years they might be taken seriously.........other than that f**k OFF to any other code thats stupid enough to pay you overs

The entire existence of Melbourne in the NRL was in News interests and not on rugby league fans'.

They served two purposes - to avoid the broncos having to compete with a second Brisbane team, by funnelling the overflow of talent into another state based team, and by tryin to expand the pay tv market.

It was so artificial the entire franchise has had to be propped up with a series of indulgences, from being propped up financially, to a blind eye to dubious defensive practices, some dream refereeing decisions...

Then the heartland clubs get smashed by a salary cap said to impose evenness on the competition, which actually gives Brisbane a big advantage, and which the Storm don't have any regard for. Both clubs somehow manage to continue to provide the vast majority of the rep players through the salary cap era.

To me nothing summed up what a blight on rugby leave the Storm are than being at the grand final las year a week after the bulldogs semi.

One game was a full house of seething passion between two arch rivals. Win or lose that game, it was a highlight for me of my time watching league.

The other was a soulless exhibition match in which one set of fans cared, and a few try hard blow INS pretended they cared. When Molly Meldrum
ran on to the ground at the end of the game it summed it all up for me.

Our whole competition and this great game have been hijacked and we've all been played for a number of years.

Exactly how it is Bigfella...well said.

The money is so big there is no way they (with maybe the exception on Cronk) couldn't have known.

Cronk is loyal to his mates and club but the loyalty was not reciprocated in his pocket. He is severely compromised and must be going through one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. He must realise by now that the club and a few of his mates have excluded him from the $$$$$$$ pie.

Months ago I wrote saying the top 4 were not aware of the cap being breached... BUT, if there were other deals done on the side like brown paper bags full of $$$$ etc, etc, you have to question that either a) the players (Smith, Slater, Inglis) are really dumb, stupid and naive unable to put one and one together... ie, the breaching of the cap or they were in on the scam and knew what they were getting into....

Here is my new take.... Smith and Slater knew, the other two didn't, are innocent... Smith and Slater are cold as ice, calculating and basically are very controlled... Inglis and Cronk are not... that's just the vibe I get from each of these players.... It seems Inglis is just terribly naive when it comes to accounting, taxation, $$$$ etc etc and just trusted those who were his advisers, managers and bosses etc.... Cronk, was not exposed to any racketeering to even question something was wrong...

I have no problems with the Eels management going after Cronk or Inglis or both to join the Eels club....

i'd forgive cronky if he wanted to come on board - he is reportedly only on $350K-$400K - he's played SOO and for Australia - thats fair and realistic money for him

infact its only really the other 3 that i'd do the "get f**ked, don't want you here" with [-( ..... I dunno - maybe each has such an ego they think they and only they are worthy of $600K+ at their club

I mean I guess I can understand them thinking they are worthy of decent $$$s - BUT I cannot for the life of me believe that some players and definitely not their managers had no idea there was dodgy sh*t going on - dickheads

Judging from Gallops press conference, wholesale pay cuts don't work and wont be allowed (they learned their lesson from the Bulldogs) and if they are allowed to re-negotiated it will be to keep them at the club for a longer period (so extending the contract on the same value) rather than allowing them to take a pay cut.

Any player that takes a pay cut, should have to have their personal bank accounts open slather to the NRL or any independent auditors. That should be a clause for any player that accepts even the slightest of pay cuts.
