It is serious misconduct. They should all be sacked immediately. Sacking them for this sort of thing should not affect the Salary Cap moving forward.

A line needs to be drawn. This sort of behaviour is not acceptable in any circumstance. The fact that they have admitted to it as well should make the whole process easy. NRL needs to back up the club & de-register the players for the rest of 2016.

From the Herald article:
' The Herald understands that if any of the players are found to have longstanding prescription drug issues that need addressing, they may be kept out of football altogether until it is felt their welfare has been taken care of.'

Surely if the club were so concerned about the player's welfare they would have suspended them from last week's games as a precaution pending the enquiry?

It surprises me that considering the discipline and will-power that is presumably required to be a decent Christian, Manu could be so weak-willed. I'm not a fan of religion in general but if it can provide focus and drive for a player (Perrett for example) then I'll allow it. I just hope Manu says some prayers, repents and rises above this. I wouldn't want to see his career end in such ignominy (although as suggested above there could be a contractual line in the sand here and these dummies are gone regardless).

Really surprised that Manu would be involved in this. Just goes to show how easy it is for these players to pull the wool over the publics eyes. They create this community loving, god fearing persona in the public eye but its really just a big act. They tell us what we want to hear and then they get up to all sorts of shenanigans behind the scenes. And these are so called "professionals".
Interestingly Manu had replied to someone on his instagram account last week saying they didnt know the full story and should keep their opinion to themselves. Yeah, we sure didnt know the full story. That you were up to your eyeballs in prescription drugs...

Very very disappointing.

If this is true, Manu, Matulino and most of all Thompson can bugger off.
Manu and Matulino I'm mostly dissappointed with, 2 club (and national) legends, they know better than this.

Thompson came here and was becoming a key figure, i'd say the best form of his career was here. And to hear this just angers me.

Vete and Lisone, I'm not so sure on either. Yes they were following the 'leadership' group, but surely deep down they must have known that they were doing a dumb thing. Should be consequences for these two, perhaps not as harshly as the first three, perhaps they should.

Hurrell can bugger off being part of this too, also for that retweet.

Do away with the lot of them, as its serious misconduct, I believe it won't affect salary cap. Free up some coin and sign the best we can. We won't win the big one with muppets like these in the team.

I guess players should be given an opportunity to redeem themselves. However all their perks of seniority and incumbancy are gone. They should now be on the bottom rung and earn their spot on form alone. Reputations are shot.

These 5 (Hurrells most likely goneburger so wont include him) will probably be put in front of the player group and management and made to make a case as to why they should be perservered with. But sponsors are involved here as well. Its serious.

Be interesting to see how it all plays out. Its not like they are all like Todd Carney or Mitchell Pearce and are repeat offenders. How many chances did those 2 get.

Pretty sure Jim Doyle has been round long enough to know a good man from a bad man and he will probably make the right call on each individual. Some of them need some serious help with their coping mechanisms though.

"Why mix energy drinks and prescription drugs?

Players are said to take the mix because it gives them a "buzz" without side effects and consequences which, for instance, excessive alcohol consumption can cause.
One official told the Herald that in the past, players could deal with stress and pressure through heavy drinking but this was not so acceptable any more.
Heavy drinking leads to weight gain, dehydration and sometimes poor behaviour in public which has a huge effect on some players' careers. Mixing energy drinks and sleeping pills is not illegal, but can still produce effects similar to recreational drugs which are."

Heard a couple of reports that at the end of the half Hoffman, Johnson and Luke stopped before the players went into the tunnel and patted each warriors player on the back, clapped them off and were talking to each of them.

In other words, unity.

Add that to SJ's post match interview where he said they "won it for cappy" and you can see who is on the team train, and who ain't.

I have more respect for SJ now than I did last week, especially considering I would have picked (wrongly) that he would of been part of "the 6".

Add into the mix, we also have a member of the squad who has had previous substance abuse issues. Then you have senior players going out and setting this example.

Wow, what a bombshell. I had a feeling there was more to it, the whole thing was fishy especially with the generic "failing team standards" spiel.

Screw the lot of them, including Manu and Matulino even with their history for us. All six are very good players for us, but obviously none of them gives a flying f*ck about team protocol. Sunday proved we not only don't need them, but we're actually better off without them as clearly none of them were playing for the coach or the team.

So disappointing, but this is a blessing in disguise, this could be the rotten apple planted in 2012 we're finally removing.

oh and the Dr John Mayhew angle. While John is recovering from a near death event, these pricks are abusing pills from a prescription he's presumably given one of them.

Stay classy senior leaders.

I really don't give two hoots about these idiots now. I do feel terribly sorry for the fans though. They deserve a heck of a lot better than this. It's the fans that pay their incredibly high salaries, but they don't care at all. They will care when the wages dry up however. No play, no pay, f**k em.

Nah, i've always picked SJ for a 'front of the class' type guy, just inconsistent and a little full of himself sometimes

Screw the lot of them, including Manu and Matulino even with their history for us.
I'm willing to believe Lisone and Vete are young and easily led/want to be part of the pack, so should get a second chance.

I'm astounded at Manu's social media bullshit - guess he thought this would stay I house (perhaps was told that) naïve to believe that, and regardless when you've been a dip shit it's better to shit the f**k up

Thought the Kiwis non-selection was harsh, makes sense now
