Biggest waste of talent ever

I'd have to say Michael Sullivan should be up there.

Was playing really well, becoming a great dynamic hooker but lost the plot on the punt and had to go to england, hasn't really ever amounted to anything since.

I remember him having a blinder for the sharks against the doggies way back when, tore them apart.

Definitely not in the league of the others mentioned but Ben Te'o has everything a footy player needs but he's going nowhere fast.

In a game in 2007 vs the Cowboys which we won by 50 he tore them apart. I thought he was going to be a superstar after that game. Started 08 in good form and bagged a fair few tries, then he started negotiating his own contract and it all went south from there. Once the club didn't want him, it was like he didn't even want to play out the season. He's a player that will turn a 40 point win into a 50 point win, and a 40 point loss into a 50 point loss.

There is a lack of Todd Carney in this thread.

Carney and to a lesser extent Zillman.

I don't think Zillman will ever reach his potential after 2 knee reco's.

Carney could still reach his potential if he stays out of trouble. His game is very similar to Fittler's imo.

I would also nomiante Greg Bird. Had the potential to be the most destructive forward in the game.

Craigie has to be the standout. He actually had the choice of being a sprinter or a League player when he was young - he was sub-11 seconds for 100 metres at the age of 16. Obviously no McDonalds in Tingha. The guy had so much talent it is just silly. Yes he won a premiership, and yes he played 150-odd games, but half of those games were absolute rubbish. It is just stupid this guy isn't still playing football.

Craigie made his 1st grade debut soon after turning 17. Says it all really!

Aaron Barba from the Redcliffe Dolphins comes to mind. You NSW boys might not know too much about him but he dead set tore up the QLD cup over a number of seasons. Last I heard he signed with Penrith never to be seen again?

40 games for 61 tries in the QLD cup. Not a bad average....

one player that disapointed was trent young, not from being lazy ro alchohol or anything, he was one of if not the best hooker in qcup went to souths in 2005 with great expectations i really thought he could become a good solid first grader but i think the move to souths hurt him and he spent most of the time in premier league and is now back at easts

That does surprise me because he was a journeyman at best to be honest. To be fair though, he was part of some shocking Souths sides.

Why's that?

Just like Kevin Kingston, Mullins was on an incentive contract in 2002 and ended up getting about $300K.. As such even though he was prepared to play for $50K for the Roosters in 2003 as he didn't expect 2002 to turn out so well. The NRL said that he would still have to be assessed at $300K under the salary cap if he wanted to play for the Roosters or anybody else in 2003.

Denis Kinchela.
Youngest player to make firstgrade at 17 (I think maybe Fittler took that record from him).
Many good judges thought he was a future immortal, but he found drugs and alcohol and his career was over before he was 20.

Hasn't played much FG (if any) but Peewee Moke?

Played at a number of clubs, had big wraps on him but could never make grade.
