Wow, what did happen to Peewee? i remember him killing it in the 04 Jersey Flegg GF with the giant killing Roosters team

Unfortunately, many of those guys in the team weren't accelerated [ie soward]

That is a good one actually.

2004 Roosters Jersey Flegg Grand Final side.

Sam Perrett; McConkie Tauasa, Jermaine Ale, Albert Hopoate, Michael Lett; Jamie Stoward (c), Peter Taylor; Grant Millington, Michael Burns, Luke Fatnowna, Danny Williams, Heath L'Estrange, Ray Moujalli. Res: Peewee Moke, Frank Winterstein, Troy Malcolm, Luke Gordon, Willam Tupou, James Shillington (two to be omitted).

Only one player from the whole side is still at the Roosters and playing first grade.

Mind you there is only one player remaining from the 2004 first grade NRL side that played in the grand final and one player from the reserve grade side as well - Minichiello and Lopini Paea.

Actually Colonel it's two, although Moujalli is more a fringe first grader.
It's a shame looking back at all the names we lost.

He did leave and then come back though didn't he or has he always been at Newtown?

The reserve grade side was stacked with first graders..... amazing player turnover.

I played for the same junior club as Blake, about 5 age groups below him. In 2003ish at my footy end of season presentation one of the blokes at the club got up and said if Blake Green ever got a gig in first grade he would absolutely kill it. Several other players from the club have gone onto bigger and better things (L'estrange, John Williams and Wolfman are 3 off the top of my head) but the club rated Blake ahead of all of them.
Well he is signed to us for next season so lets hope he can find that form again when he is called upon.

Jermaine Ale is another one that springs to mind. Don't know what happened to him, but when he signed for the Raiders I remember there were a lot of jealous Roosters fans around these parts. Now playing in the Newcastle league somewhere.

There are a lot of u16s-19s going around who are freakishly good players... problem is 95% of them are more interested in pissing up and rooting. The difference between a good footballer who makes it a career and someone who ends up playing A grade at their local is commitment.

yep agreed, i think in the end talent is only a small part of it. you can have good ball skills or whatever but if you don't train hard you aren't gonna last very long.

Chris Guider. Played 3 grand finals in one day back in 85, failed to hit any great heights afterwards and now suffers the ultimate indignity - he's a member of Scientology

Agreed. I was the next big thing until I started high school.

That's not really a waste of talent at all, certainly not in the context of this thread anyway. Lett is quality and it's only a matter of time until he gets his shot at first grade.

Its a waste of talent in terms of him wasting away in reserve grade when he deserves to be a regular first grader at least but yes hopefully his time will come next year

I suppose so but he's still young. He's the same age as Matt Prior and a year younger than the Morris boys and Nightingale. And he has been playing behind a strong group of wingers.

Mathew Head by far

agreed, the ANZAC game with the chip chase, sideline conversion is burned into my memory.

shame he had so many injuries and killed his career. i think he would have had a great career otherwise.

the jnr raiders teams have a habbit of looking after the country NSW players more so than the local jnrs:shock:

Exactly. Look at Sa.

Paul Franze was awesome in his first yr at cronulla.. injuries ruined him

IMO his move to union and the ESL also killed him.
Also Stuart Raper also dug a bullet into his career when he replaced him with Vagana and McGoldrick.
