Had it in for Harrigan ever since that game. A perfect example of a ref error (ie: the obstruction 'penalty') directly affecting the result.

Great tackle and a worthy nominee but 04 for mine was far from a great grand final. Just too damn sloppy - Chooks only completed 52% of their sets which just about says it all.
As far as other great moments...
Sattler tackle deserved it's placing for it's time. These days it doesn't age all that well especially when you see the likes of Bolton chase down Hayne and such but for the time a forward chasing down a back was rare. Considering Sattler was a virtual nobody at the time it doubled as a career defining moment and an absolute game changer as a result.
After watching both again.. I'd put slaters effort ahead of sattlers.. Morris regathers its a try.. slaters speed and timing and outstanding skill spoils the effort of Morris. Bravo billy.. bravo.
At that speed to react and hit the ball away is phenomenal..
It was a spectacular play.. and its in all the highlight reels
Yep.. whichever way you look at it.. doesn't get much better then that play.
Agreed. Just pipped Kenny's brilliant dummy and sprint in 81, Kenny's no look short pass to Ella in 83, the legendary 7 man tackle on Farrah in 86, and the Fui steamroller in 09 (which makes Jackson's try in 89 look like a Roy Bell hitup)A. Johns pass to D. Albert best ever Grand Final moment of all time.
Brilliant heads up play by Slater.
My nomination for greatest GF moment is Ben Hornby's catch in 2010. Trailing 8-6 just before half time, he flew high and not only took the bomb cleanly under pressure, he stayed out of the in goal. Big big moment in the game
Yeah, maybe great was an overstatement.
I wasn't meaning great like 'Clive Churchill is great'. I was meaning great as in 'a reasonably entertaining final with a close finish'.
We understand. Your doctor advised you to avoid storing your sperm for long periods. Most people would think of porn, not Billy Slater, to assist insetting the mood. Each to their own.
The only thing Slater will be remembered for in grand finals is for being roadkill for Fiu on 09 and a entree for Graham in 12. Slater has produced nothing remotely in the same class as Luke Phillips for the Chooks in 2000.

firechild - For sure. In fact, you're underselling it if anything, the kick was from inside his own 20m zone.
Think the problem was the lead up had some question marks and many didn't bother catching a replay.
Another very underrated play in the 86 GF. Peter Kelly took a tap from penalty restart and ran. Had he not been tackled by Geoff Bugden, Steve Sharpe and Mick Moseley, he would have been in the clear with only the fullback to beat!Brilliant heads up play by Slater.

Not really question marks, by the book there was nothing wrong with it. DCE was running behind Robertson in support and as Harrigan clarified, support players do not have to get out of the way of defending players coming from behind. It makes sense because support players can't be expected to make allowance for defenders coming from any possible direction, they must only allow defenders who are in front to make a play at the ball carrier.
Vintage Loudstrat comedy right there. The crickets are ear-piercingAnother very underrated play in the 86 GF. Peter Kelly took a tap from penalty restart and ran. Had he not been tackled by Geoff Bugden, Steve Sharpe and Mick Moseley, he would have been in the clear with only the fullback to beat!
Old timers also tell of another underrated play in the 63 gf. George Evans fed a scrum whch Saints won. Had he fed it incorrectly, he would have been penalised, and Wests would have the ball. Crucial. Match turning.
