Adam Blair on path to quitting Wests Tigers

THE first tentative steps have been taken for Wests Tigers and forward Adam Blair to part company.

The Daily Telegraph understands Wests Tigers have privately spoken about the possibility of Blair leaving the club after this year, despite being under contract until the end of 2015.

It's understood Blair hasn't asked for a release. Yet.

The Wests Tigers-Blair marriage has been rocky from the start.

He signed a four-year deal with the club from 2012 for a reported $500,000 a season.

There is still a chance Blair will see out his time at Concord but it appears Wests Tigers wouldn't stand in the way if he sought a release. Sources linked Blair to Melbourne, where he played his best football under coach Craig Bellamy.

During his time at the Storm, Blair was among the best forwards in the game.

"Everyone knows what I can bring and how I can play," Blair said a fortnight ago. "I'm just not doing that enough for the team at the moment and for the people who want to see me do better for the team.

"All the little things, I think I do really well for the team - kick pressure, cleaning up the tackles. I think I do those really well. I think my attack is a little bit off at the moment but, once I fix that up, I think everyone will quieten up a bit."

Wests Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys did not return calls last night.

He did tell The Sunday Telegraph earlier this month that the Blair signing "hasn't worked out".

"You make big recruitment decisions all the time," Humphreys said. "Most saw Blair as one of the reasons why we started 2012 as premiership favourites."

1. kick pressure,
2. cleaning up the tackles. but not 1st man in very often
I think I do those really well. I think my attack is a little bit off at the moment but, once I fix that up, I think everyone will quieten up a bit."

He came up with 2 points relating to little things, I want to see his big things list.

Flip side for me is, I thought he played pretty well last Friday and he was in many tackles (the cleaning up).

He was never among the best forwards in the game. Why do people keep saying that?

Its all about team balance,Blair in the right team would probably go very well. Sheens once again targeted the wrong player for our needs,we needed a aggressive big unit with a big engine. The problem now we have to recruit some expensive forwards to make Blair effective and we cant do that because blair is eating up large chunks of the cap, so we offload him and are forced to probably pick up half the tab. Thanks Sheens

This is the where the whole thing starts and ends. We overpaid. No other club will take him for what we paid. If they do great but we shouldn't be paying him while he plays elsewhere.

F**k**g Blair off is one thing, but the clowns that came up with the idea and gave the okay to sign him need to be held accountable and shown the door also, stopping a repeat of another dud signing.

Yeah, I have to say I cant see much point in signing Richards except as backup for K & N unless they want to fit him elsewhere. Like everything I suppose they were in negotiations for some time and N hadnt really come on to the scene for the other wing spot.

Lote's had it and Richards is a good, experienced and versatile player to have back. Wish we had him for the in between period and not lost him after to 05 grand final to ESL.. Oh that try in the GF................. magnificent.

I'm not too fussed on the Richards signing. As long as he isnt on too much he is a good option for wing. I would put nofo at centre with Richards (an experienced player) on the wing giving us someone to kick for in an attacking position and also to defend kicks against us. I definitely see Ayshford as a backrower along with Siro as he takes a good hitup, is good in contact, has an offload and defends better in tighter in. Plus he makes a good backup centre in the case of injuries or continued low form of Lawrence.

Having said that, I think that our backs are not where we should be concentrating on at the moment. Another good prop and an aggressive, worker second row should be the goal. Goddamn, it seems like every Effing year we are 1-2 props short and in need of another Ellis.

If Blair offloading goes through, by the end of this year we will no longer have to pay for Heino, Gibbs and Blair. Then Lote and Utai can retire and this combined salary cap space should be around a $1,000,000 a year (depending on what we release Blair for).
Then by 2014 Anasta will no doubt retire, Pettyborne will be off contract and no doubt a bunch of others.

Ryan Hoffman, Ben Lowe and James Graeheme are all off contract at the end of 2014....its a long shot but godamnit I would shit my pants with excitement if this went through. Our team would suddenly look something like this:

1. Tedesco
2. Nuomafala
3. Ayshford
4. Richards (I would prefer to see an experienced player in the centres)
5. Koro
6. Marshall
7. Sironen/Brooks
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Hoffman
12. Fulton
13. Lowe

14. Graham
15. Buchanen
16. Bell
17. Thomson/Sue/Ava/Moltzen/ whoever we need to fill this

Pipe dream? Or could this actually be a 2015 reality?

Most likely a pipe dream. But does look like a decent side. However I do find it sad that we're already discussing 2015.

RR, you had me until your 20th name:roll:

I think that Sue is going to be in the starting side for the TIGERS for a few years to come, he is going to be a good one.

Its pretty sad that we have to think on the long term but without a more experienced pack we do not stand a chance. However the youngsters Teddy, Koro, Numofala, Sue, Siro, Buchanan all show alot of promise which makes me happy. BMM has hit a bad patch of form hopefully he can get better.

Old Time - everyone picks on Moltzen but we need someone like him in reserve grade or on bench to cover injuries

Blair being chased hard by Parra :). Out of the 12 players Stuart has said are unwanted, are there any that you guys think are worth a look. Personally I don't think any besides maybe Reni Maitui which would be a gamble and perhaps more suited to fit into a stronger back row i.e. not ours

I rate maitua very highly, was shocked to hear the eels dropping him, than noticed that he turns 32 next year.

Not what we need right now.

I don't want anything Parra is throwing away.

If they are throwing away players to sign Blair, then it doesn't say much for those they are getting rid of, does it now.

maitua is probably better than any backrower we have posing at the moment. I just hope Parra are stupid enough to get Blair and pay most of, if not all of his contract :)
