I wasn't overly fussed with the pack, but that was not the reason I purchased it, it was purchased to support my club, and Ill do the same next year.

And tbh, I think they have.
Human society can be so greedy sometimes. Are we doing this because we love the Eels and we all have a desire to, in some small way, help the club out, even if it's just a few dollars, or are we doing this because we expect heaps of stuff worth at least $70?
Judging by many of the complaints on here by so called "Eels fans", I sometimes wonder.

Memberships won't be the be all and end all of club survival, but they WILL help. Every little bit helps.
I wonder what Tim Mannah and some of the others who went to Rwanda think of some of the sh*t that has been posted here lately?
"Oh, the caps are crap".
"The coasters are cardboard".
"What do we need a lanyard for"?.
"OMG, I can't use two vouchers at the one time".

FMD!!!!

Fair dinkum, some people around here need to have a real f**king good hard look at themselves.

Suity

All that was missing from that Rant was a "Won't someone think of the Children"

PS. Oh, and fancy adding a link to memberships on an email to members.??? God forbid.:x

And you accuse me of making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Suity we are a greedy bunch at times, the club needs members and gives a little in return, and we still don't understand what is about, that is one thing we could learn from the Victorians

wow - lets get on our high horses and compare the plight of rwanda to a bloody supporters pack .... fmd - talk about apples and oranges

Really? ...............A greedy bunch of comfortable westerners complaining about cap sizes from a club where some of our players have been off to spread some goodwill to the less fortunate???
It wasn't meant to be a comparison between Rwanda and Blue Blood packs, it was a comparison between the haves and have nots.
And all I see in here is a pack of f**king whingers complaining about whether they want a lanyard for their $70, or that cardboard coasters are pathetic ffs. It makes me want to throw up reading sh*t like that.
Seriously, this world astounds me sometimes.

If anyone is not happy with their small sized cap or useless tattoos, how about you take your whole pack back to the club and ask for your money back?
Go on, instead of whinging on here, go and do it.
FMD.

It's an internet forum, much like facebook and twitter that have followed.

Whinging - or more accurately the passing of different opinions - is largely what happens on internet forums, it's kind of what they're for?

I'm astounded by how upset people seem to get about other people typing in their opinions. There's an ignore button as part of these forums for that very reason, to help people who get upset when reading the opinions of others.

And tearing whingers a new one for crying like little babies over the most insignificant shyte is also something that occurs on internet forums, so deal with it

Still, I think if people don't think they're getting value for the $70 then they're entitled to feel that way. Particuarly if all they had previously was a football club membership. Whats value to one person may not be to another.

We've come along way with these memberships, I'd hate the increase this year suffers a drop off because people don't see value or think they're being taken for granted (not saying they are).
Too f**king right. It was OK to write on here how disatisfied fans were under a previous "regime", but it's suddenly not OK according to some to do so in 2010.

The point about it being in the club's best interest to give value to fans (and protect their future earnings) should not be lost. And we know that this forum has become an effective way for fans to express their differing but collective opinions, in the knowledge that people in the club read it.

We know this because this forum was used (very effectively) as an electioneering tool. It's just strange to me that suddenly some people want everyone else to take an "emperor's new clothes" approach, when the previous approach achieved results to the betterment of the club.

Bart, been around here long enough to know that. My opinion was challenged and I responded.
By the way, the ignore button is also there for you to use if you feel the need to use it.

I'm dealing with it, by expressing that the people who suggest other people's differing opinions should not be heard have a hard look at themselves as well...

Of course, I expect there will be some crying about the above statement too, seems to be a recent theme?

Obviously not long enough to respect people's right to have/give their own opinions?

I don't feel the need to use the ignore function, as I'm quite open to reading differing opinions about issues, but will point out the hypocrisy of suggestions that people should stay silent about things that matter to/bother them, knowing (as you do) that the forums can result in positive change within the club we all support.

Please Bart. I sincerely hope you are not including me in that comment. You happened to read my thread the other night about club communication, so you know I'm not particularly happy about all things at present.
But, tbh, some of the comments on here regarding the packs have been seriously juvenile imo. Sorry, as valid as though those people may feel, it's just my opinion.

It's a general comment Suity.

I notice no-one commented in your thread saying that you shouldn't be having your opinion, or you should just talk to the club about it instead of express it on here etc. If they did, I would have been into them there.

In fact, my posts in that thread (or it's temporary spin off) were to the effect of suggesting to the mods that the thread stand, so opinions (whether critical or positive) can be read.

But, tbh, some of the comments on here regarding the packs have been seriously juvenile imo. Sorry, as valid as though those people may feel, it's just my opinion.

Fair enough in your opinion. It must just have been the way it was expressed that implied that others weren't entitled to (or should in fact not) post their's on here that drew my criticism.

while I do not under estimate the good work from the trips to rwanda that have been undertaken over the last few years, it is also a club where other players have expected to receive salaries over 10 times the average.

Not all supporters and fans are as comfortable off as you and there are many that would like to attend games but can not afford it. The major cost to a club are the players salaries and ticket prices are one of a few income streams to pay for this.

try telling a father that is earning an average wage who can not afford to take his kid to a football match, that for him to be assured of seeing his kids idol to keep on running around in his favourite teams colours he has to pay $70 so his idol can be paid $500K or will go elsewhere.
