In my opinion the Club should just charge $70 for membership and forget the "wait there's more" crap that goes with it. That way the member gets EXACTLY what he is paying for, and knows the EXACT value of his membership.
The 'steak knives' don't interest me... It turned me off rejoining actually..
The Club should say Annual Membership is $70 ....If you want bells and whistles let us know and we'll give them to you for postage costs of $X....

hold on! wasn't your original gripe about the increase of price from $25 to $70??

Yeah it definitely was.. but mainly because they had included the crap along with it - forced fire sale of unused goods. I must have done a Tony Abbott,

If the Club said membership was $70 (or whatever)..with no bells and whistles...... I would have been in.

They need to ask themselves -----Do they want fair dinkum members----or do they just want supporters?
I'm with Bart, I'd rather buy $55 worth of doubles, than pay $25 membership and get the rest in unsaleable and useless crap?
For instance, who would buy the 'giveaway crap i.e a key ring, lannard (what is that anyway), tattoos, coasters, etc if it was left to their own device.
In my opinion, it cheapens the value of being a member.

I also would of been happy without the bells and whistles, with the exception of maybe the keyring and discount card but we've been getting crap like these every year through supporters packs, and its never seemed to have disturbed you in the past..the big difference this year is that they've combined it with the football club membership which is something they should of done years ago.

as for the "forced fire sale of goods" comment..I knew I shouldn't have bought my 2010 BGA cap in 2004...what was i thinking?

As I said in an earlier post in my opinion there should be a different pack for Sparky's junior eels which I purchased for my son and the B&GA pack I purchased for myself. Thats my only beef.

I'd probably understand if it was as simple as thinking the plastic rubbish is not worth the money they are asking

I agree ... the adults can get 1 or 2 simple extras along with their membership - maybe a decent keyring/cap/polo (maybe even let them choose) - something that they can show they are a member with and ppl will go, cool I want one of those keyrings/caps/polos too I will become a member

I'd rather them spend more money on some quality caps than get the cardboard coasters and temp tattoos.

why not offer membership at whatever cost the club makes out of the current deal and offer the trinkets at cost price to members only, that way people get what they want.

Fricking hell, suport the club, membership is a lifeline to ongoing survival ( look at AFL) and the freebies are exactly that, a thank you for the support

Stop whingeing and get a life.

actually rather than whinging I see a couple of constructive posts above about how it could be made better.

membership is a lifeline to ongoing survival and freebies cost the club money to buy, they are not free.

Why waste lifeline money on things that people do not want or need?

How much is it for a straight membership then.....WHAT IS THE MEMBERSHIP VALUE?
If they think that offering rubbish as a lure they went down the wrong road.
They are signing up supporters not members. BIG DIFFERENCE

Something that has gone unnoticed but we now have approx 9,000 members.

http://www.nrl.com/news/news/newsar...nues-to-break-membership-records/default.aspx

Outstanding.

I wouldn't say un-noticed, but the focus for the first part of the membership campaign has been "Ticketed" members, not members overall.

It would appear that our last years season ticket holders were 3950 and that leaves about 1500 Blue and Gold Army members last year. That number seems to have increased by almost 100%, which is great. Over 9,000 members is fantastic.

And they are all football club members so I am sure that gives everyone a warm glow to know they all can now have their say in about 3 years time.

The problem is we are starting to lose people with the higher entry price of membership.

There should be a "Simple" membership as we have discussed for many years, and indeed had for many years. Maybe expand the $25 membership to include a card instead of a badge, and offer to put them on the E-mail list.

Some people are members of the club and have been for over 30 years, are being forced out this year, because they don't purchase season tickets and think $70 is to steep an increase with little or no change in benefits.

I remember the uproar when we went from $15 to $25 at the FC a few years ago. $25 to $70, is quite rich.

But hey, we are all just wingers, think about the people in Rwanda!

Maybe I should have thought about the people in Rwanda instead of write the report on fan relations. Or maybe some others should have thought about the people in Rwanda instead of constantly criticising our club over a beer at the pub.
