How much is it for a straight membership then.....WHAT IS THE MEMBERSHIP VALUE?
If they think that offering rubbish as a lure they went down the wrong road.
They are signing up supporters not members. BIG DIFFERENCE

No I don't think thats what they did at all ..... I think they simply decided to lump everything from previous years into one thing called "membership" .... its not he "lure" of the plastic stuff

I heard that same argument as the SC meeting last night,

Straight membership is $70, you will get a card that replaces your badge in terms of membership identification and some pieces of paper. Throw all the paper away and you still get an annual report in the mail at the end of the year like you used to.

Ask nicely and they will send you your 2010 FC members badge for FREE!

I wouldn't say un-noticed, but the focus for the first part of the membership campaign has been "Ticketed" members, not members overall.

It would appear that our last years season ticket holders were 3950 and that leaves about 1500 Blue and Gold Army members last year. That number seems to have increased by almost 100%, which is great. Over 9,000 members is fantastic.

And they are all football club members so I am sure that gives everyone a warm glow to know they all can now have their say in about 3 years time.

The problem is we are starting to lose people with the higher entry price of membership.

There should be a "Simple" membership as we have discussed for many years, and indeed had for many years. Maybe expand the $25 membership to include a card instead of a badge, and offer to put them on the E-mail list.

Some people are members of the club and have been for over 30 years, are being forced out this year, because they don't purchase season tickets and think $70 is to steep an increase with little or no change in benefits.

I remember the uproar when we went from $15 to $25 at the FC a few years ago. $25 to $70, is quite rich.

But hey, we are all just wingers, think about the people in Rwanda!

Maybe I should have thought about the people in Rwanda instead of write the report on fan relations. Or maybe some others should have thought about the people in Rwanda instead of constantly criticising our club over a beer at the pub.

This is the first year we've had this new membership structure, and no straight up $25 FC membership. It would be a shame if the club 'lost' members next year after such great promotion and growth this year.

It may well be prudent of them to do a survey of (even just of non ticketed members), to find out what they think of the memberships, but also, what they expect from memberships. Its all well and good to tell people to support the club, but if they feel they are being taken for granted, or are not really apart of the club, then you wont get that support.

One can hope, Gods willing we will have the membership staff to do so.

MITS, you mentioned earlier that the retail manager was let go, who was he employed by?

Is there anymore you are able to tell us on a public forum?
there seems to have been some interesting decisions with regards to staff retention since the election, I would imagine moral must be low especially for staff who have to work long hours on memberships when staff that could of help were let go before Christmas.

The Retail manager as far as I know was employed by the football office.

From former staff members and some other sources, I can piece together that since the election, 19 members of staff have been made redundant, let go or left for greener pastures 6 of those known to me were directly involved in fan relations and membership in some way or another. AFAIK they have been replaced by 2 people.

There have also been stories openly told of the membership teams working till late at night every night of the week during the off season to get the memberships sorted. They called former staff back in for the summer on a temp basis as far as I have been told.

As I have said, it seems the cost cutting wasn't only seen on the quality of the Blue Blood Pack, Merchandise.

I'll say it again. What a pack of f**king whingers.

Is it only whinging when you don't agree with the message? All of your talk pre and post election would be classed as whinging or was that just standard criticism? Stones and glass houses, buddy.

He's entitled to his opinion. If he sees it as whinging so be it.

was there a problem with getting memberships out on time last year. mickdo?
For those who weren't season ticket holders last year, the answer is no. I received mine fine without staff having to burn the midnight oil.

Mickdo, have you been to the B&GHQ and been served by a leagues club member who didn't know what was going on or any prices?, I would have thought a retail manager would be important at this time of year.

How many memberships did we have last year?
so it's a total shock to you that memberships have doubled after the way we played and finished last season?

Mits has produced evidence of past increases in membership after good seasons and this season is no different. So the board went to all the trouble of restructuring the membership packages and only expected the same numbers to re-enrol.

Where you a STH last year?
Why did you bother to join this year?

Does anyone know where I can get a list of the membership numbers we have had over the last 10 years? Be interesting to see the peaks and troughs

Doubled? Yes
keeping the game at the stadium helped here ;-)

This is the first year in the last 4 or 5 that I have actually been in the country for the start of the season. I am now an STC but have been an FC member for 3 years.
you were so exited by last year you made sure you were around for this years start, does it not seem strange to you to reduce the staffing levels prior to what was always going to be a big start to the season?
