Involved with memberships, none , Nor in 2007 when we had a comparable membership.

Overall, there were 3 big ones we all heard about at the end of 2007, then there was a person who left as well, some would say pushed but that is something we can discuss later, either way that person felt unable to produce change and do their job properly so another person was bought in, that person was eventually retrenched as well.

In other words, it had already started

I'm in my 3rd year as a STH and my 2nd as a Club member, and I only just received my first email yesterday after about the 5th request I'd put in for them to add my email address to the list (And I have had my email address on every form I've filled out).

I added the $25 to make it $45 including the other stuff which I reckon would cost about $20 to produce. Maybe read the full sentence next time :)

ok, so when you eventually recieve the booklet you can also include that in the $20..

btw, regardless of what's crap or not, at the end of the day, isn't this membership thing about helping the club?

too say that too much is being made of it is the understatement of the year.

Does anyone know where I can get a list of the membership numbers we have had over the last 10 years? Be interesting to see the peaks and troughs

I have got some information from what I have pieced together over the last few years.

2007 - STH : 4905 (Approx)
2008 - STH : 5450 (a 10 % rise) BGA : 1000 approx, (300 Cross over with STH)
2009 - STH : 3704 BGA : 1515
2010 - STH : 6250 BGA : 2905

Don't put words in my mouth.

No, people were made redundant because there jobs were a little to excessive for the club.

Either way I wouldn't expect the Membership team is where we would cut people in the middle of a membership drive, especially after one of the 2 person membership team got a job elsewhere and was going to be leaving.

So people being sacked before the election is because their jobs were 'excessive', but after the election when they're sacked it's just down to 'bad' management. NSW Labor couldn't have written it better

I said it was bad management to reduce the staff handling membership just before an expected increase in demand and stand by it.

Once again don't put words in my mouth.

Show me where I said it was Bad Management, please? I have never said it was Bad Management, I have said I wouldn't have expected it, but I am not here to pass judgement just yet. We have a full season and half an off season to go before we "Pass Judgement" I am just relaying the facts or in the case of the 3 in August 2008 what I was told when I asked some staff or Board members about those moves.

Interestingly, I had heard rumours on one of those 3 was dropping hints for a voluntary redundancy around the start of 2006, because at the end of 2006 there long time "Employer" was to be out of the club.

Once we see how the membership renewal and acceptance process goes in October this year we will have a good Idea on how we are tracking.

We still do, If you call the club and they can confirm you are a continuing member through through the BGA offerings, they will send you your 2010 badge

At the AGM this year I bought it up and I was told that it was being considered.

I spoke with Kevin Wise at Wyong during the Junior Reps game and he has promised me it is something that will remain next year as well.

To confirm the obvious, the previous board was concerned about over staffing, and there was a lot of friction about addressing this issue. One high profile person was not keen to dilute his support base.

In essence it was under way even before the board change , just that the ebbs and flows of work appear to have caused an issue in this pre-season. As they say you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, maybe they are searching for the right balance in staff numbers.

IOf we can get cost / income ratios more favourable, then that is the start.

They are not Stephen Rodger Waugh, mate. They can't be perfect everytime.

Sorry, Mick. The missus gets the poops when I talk in riddles also.
Basically, you are allowed to think that things aren't always perfect at the club. You don't have to agree with everything they do just because you hand out how to vote cards. ;-)

IMO, Stagger, in a perfect world this would be the case. Unfortunately it is not. Perhaps we should become a registered charity.

Much was made of the disparity in benefits between St George memberships and Parra memberships in the past. Now, all of a sudden it doesn't matter what we get in return as we are, as you put it, helping the club. Why the sudden change in attitudes? **

** Not you personally stagger. Please don't be offended. Just "us" in general.

LOL, I don't! I was dead against the attempted move to ANZ for round 1 and I think communication could be better at the moment over the status of memberships and Rd 1 ticket sales, however I am not going to nit-pick them over silly sh*t like whether a members pack is worth $50, or $60 or $70 depending on which dodgy Chinese manufacturer you go to, or having a bloody link for signing up for membership at the bottom of a member's email! Overall I am very happy with the direction things are going. It's a shame more people aren't.
