Brett Stewart found not guilty of sexual assault

Based on nothing else but a gut instinct, this seems like it will pan out in the same way as the Tigers case.

Some drunk girl trying to take revenge on a footy player.

For me the speed in which it was reported leads more to the credibility of the accusations more that 'some drunk girl taking revenge on a footy player'.

Unless we want to go down the road that it is one big conspiracy from the family out to get Stewart.

When it rains it pours.

I was just thinking that.

This whole nrl and sexual assaults and stars behaving badly and all the bull sh it that goes into a season launch, is starting to wear thin.

I looked at the ad, and it was great, very respectable effort and would have got people feeling it - truly - a little bit more again as they reflected. But then this whole sex assault thing happens, and I have had enough.

I hope it is all resolved very quickly.

***********

League players need to learn how to date. I typed into google today "learn to date" and "attracting women", and there are literally 100's of helpful sites. So help is easily found these days.

Once, sites like those were hard to come by, nowadays the info is everywhere.

If you are not naturally gifted at this kind of thing, dont worry, because its a skill like any other that can be learnt. Trust me. I have had several nervous-around-women friends go through a boot camp-like process, and come out more confident, etc.

Its less manipulative/abnormal than trying to impress/win/manipulate girls by buying them gifts, sucking up to them, kissing their butts, trying disparately. Point is, though, I have - and my friends have - never had problems with rape allegations, bad vibes, violent and unappreciative boyfriends, etc. I've teased and 'picked-on', hit up and chatted up all types of women, and done all kinds of extraordinary things, and never has any girl been put off like what headlining nrl players seem to end up getting. Even if she is married and extreemly happy, a girl is usually very flattered, she is never angry you hit on her.

Girls are emotionally stronger than guys, and more stable usually, and they get chatted up all the time....what they hate is creeps being creepy and guys who have been told no continuing to advance unwantedly.

Guys on the other hand are lacking in father figures, and real role models, and have lost their way....heck girls have it all over us in this department, from teeny mags when they are young - they are learning to 'win' over guys from an early age. Most guys still try and beat their heads against walls, instead of going to someone who is confident around women (and not just married to one) who can show them the ropes.
***********

Anyway, the nrl pulled the ad and manly a sponsor, so this crap, from nrl players, needs to be handled once and for all. ITS NOT HARD. You just need to man-up and face your fears, handle your emotions and get a life.

In one snippet, my view is: i dont understand, i really don't, how these nrl tools can mess it up so easily!! The funny thing is, being of "high-status" like a sports star, makes it easier.

How long do you think it takes for someone to make a false statement??

Like I said, purely my own opinion and I am not claiming this to be the definitive truth, however the whole thing just smells like Brett running into a fan on the way home, possibly taking her up on a bit of action, and her then regretting it, feeling used and crying rape.

Much like the Lafranchi case.

this is pretty sad really. i wouldn't be surprised if he just turned her down and she got cut so she thought hmmm ill just f**k up his career!!!!!!

but u never know, it could all be a reality that Stewart will have to face the consequences for!!

To me, my first thoughts were as you say. Odds on favorite outcome.

Still, he must have done something to upset her.

Second-in-line outcome would be he did nothing to her at all.

Third would be her having some vendetta for something else/more complex situation. Some crazy putting this sh t on you is quite common. In these cases, being a star player makes you a target.

Is it illegal for a 17yo to be smoking?

i think its only illegal to sell cigs to someone under 18

i can remember smoking years ago when the age was 16 and i was 12 and smoked in malls etc etc

never got my cigs confiscated by a copper and i saw plenty of them

She is a 17 year old girl at her home.

She is more likely to have been home studying than out getting drunk.

I hate how people are so quick to blame the woman in all of these cases.

young girls are prone to be erratic, inmature and inexperienced. one moment they like you the next they dont.

wonder what he did. But this "flighty" attitude of young girls in these situations is a concern for someone who's walking in blind.

Should really let her know you just want to have sex and no relationship, and don't piss her off with crap like most blokes spew out of their mouths.

this could well be something thats just blown up out of proportion. guys like to blame the women....but believe me, you make your own luck in this game. There is no getting "lucky", if you think you get "lucky" with sex either, its actually an "accident" that's the more apt term.

So in your mind the more likely story is that this girl was in her room hitting the books and what, Stewart broke in through the window and had his way with her???

As for a 17 y.o girl unlikely to be drinking....

Going on a binge in her house with her parents home? I would say no.

I am just saying she had more chance of being home doing anything else and not been blind drunk and seducing innocent men by 8 at night out the front of her own house.

In the whole three weeks she has lived near him he he must have done very bad for her to make up such a lie just to hurt him.

Parents rushed to the aid of screaming daughter

Les Kennedy | March 8, 2009

SHORTLY before taking their daughter to Dee Why Police Station to make a statement late yesterday, the parents of the girl who has made allegations of sexual assault against Brett Stewart spoke to The Sun-Herald about the events.

The 17-year-old girl's mother said her daughter had been standing next to a driveway on Pittwater Road in Manly .

She was having a cigarette when Sea Eagles rugby league player Brett Stewart, who lives in the suburb, allegedly approached her about 8pm.

"We frown upon her smoking but my husband and I say that if she wants to smoke she cannot do it in our home because of her younger sisters," the girl's mother said.

The woman, who, like her daughter cannot be identified for legal reasons, said she and her husband rushed to her aid upon hearing her scream.

"She was calling out, she was screaming," he said.

"All I can say is that we are going down to the police station now and they are taking it quite seriously.

"We have been living here only three weeks but we are moving from these premises."

A male neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said that the first he knew of the incident was when the girl's father banged on his door and asked him to call the police.

He said a scuffle ensued between the father and Stewart.

"The father came to us for help," the neighbour said.

"He asked to call the police, which we did. We did not see or hear anything nor see the girl.

"There was a bit of a scuffle between the father and Brett, then the police arrived. We stayed out of it.

"The girl's father was very angry and yelling. He was seething."

Police returned to Stewart's unit yesterday morning and served an interim apprehended violence order upon the footballer. The order prohibits him making contact with the alleged victim and her family.

Stewart was not at the residence last night.

Last night, no charges had been made in relation to the incident.

1. What exactly could Brett have done on the driveway of her house?

2. Why didn't the neighbour also hear her scream?

3. ""All I can say is that we are going down to the police station now and they are taking it quite seriously." Funny, they also managed to get the whole story out of you.

4. So the father first went to his daughter's aid, then went to the neighbours front door, then went and got in a fight with Brett who was still on the neighbours driveway for whatever reason.

I know I'm a Manly supporter so I'm actively trying to find reasons why he's innocent and some of the above may be at a stretch, but there seems to be a few inconsistencies in the story.

thanks for posting that.

this is a bull dust incident....seems the father is behind the motion to involve the cops...the whole being on the driveway thing....the words sexual assault and seriously could even be brett taking her hand (things get twisted pretty hard sometimes).

I bet you she is a "skanky" girl....she smokes, even though she comes from a non smoking househould and everyone is against her doing it...she probably knows brett stuart, if not well then a little bit. I bet there is a history.

i get the idea of what went on, defending this will be easy, sounds like his lawyers have lots of ammo:

the whole calling out thing and the apparent screaming....i bet she was just calling out like in a sookish/demanding way "Muuum...muuum"...interpret: "Come save me from this situation you have not gifted me the tools to solve myself!"

Then dad comes out and argues (remember this is the guy who brought up this feral and problematic girl, imagine what he's like), brett feels threatened or even shocked this girl had to whimper to mum and dad and could not solve the problem in a mature adult way (she is 17, Brett after all!) and finds himself face to face with an angry dad who sees his princess "set-upon" by this football "thug".

I know guys can be pushy sometimes, maybe she panicked....this girl, trust me, does not sound like she is well adjusted, and she finds it perfectly ok to be socially isolated from her family (if she even wants to be there) because she is forced to and accepts smoking on the driveway. But being pushy is hardly a crime! Unless he fondled her or something along those lines, I don't see this girl's story sticking....and you got to admit being out in the open on a street corner, its hard to see her being felt up.

MY god you really are an idiot.
I guess a fair portion of the world must be skanks because they smoke, how stupid is that conclusion.

To be fair, you don't have tobe a complete moron to drink

One of the two people in the story one was out on the drink during the day and the other is being labeled as a drunk with no proof.

Yet the girl is the one who is at fault and being slandered with no proof while she was at home.

I can take people having a go at girls who want to have sex with league players in the toilet of a club but to make such accusations about a girl who only substantiated crime is to try and stop passive smoking is wrong.
