Brisbane Tigers make their bid to be 18th team

huh? you were the one that turned this into a "channel 9 ratings are the only metric that's important" discussion, not anyone else.
Ch9 ratings are the only metric we can use to gauge each club's commercial value to the broadcasters in their home market.

You're the one -- alongside Maxipad, Colk and Perth Red -- arguing that sponsors will pay more for an NRL that has teams in all 5 metro markets.

Question: Which medium generates more money from sponsorship?

(A) FTA or (B) PTV?

Answer: (A) FTA. It has commercial breaks during play and is watched by more than twice as many people.

Storm provide limited value on FTA in their home market. The Lions provide 1.6 x as many viewers in a market that's half the size of Melbourne.

You state that they offer no value to fox and use ch9 data to support it.

You state that they haven't grown ratings despite not having half the data.

You are the one making the claims without the data. We are just pointing out that you don’t have the data.

You seem to think you should be able to make claims where you know there is no data, and then tell everyone else that if they disagree, prove you wrong. That's not how it works.

If you don't have the metro breakdown for PTV then stop arguing that teams are needed in Adelaide and Perth to increase the value of the broadcast rights.

The odds of Victorians constituting more than a negligible amount of the national PTV audience is slim. It's ludicrous to assume the number is more than a few thousand. The general rule is FTA provides a larger share per game than PTV. The average for PTV is 240k. For FTA it is 580k. You and your mates are clutching at straws and not using any common sense.
Untrue when you add Foxsports and Kayo audiences together

So nrl should get rid of cowboys dragons Canberra and Newcastle and replace with teams in Adelaide and Perth to get a similar deal ?
That ship has sailed. Best we can now do is fill our metro gaps ands accept its going to be a larger competition.

Dont get annoyed at me, advertisers decide where to spend their money, and 90% of media advertising is spent in metro markets.
So yes regionals are worth something, 10% of advertising spend as it turns out.
Twiggy just spent 1.2 million because of a regional team

ad rates In many regional markets are better than the slum of Adelaide and on par with Perth

No, he spent it because he is building gas facilities in that area and hes trying to appease the locals. Thats got nothing to do with value of regional australia to advertisers lol.

90% in metro markets.
So yeh, nah, unless of course you can link to some data that backs up this statement?

you miss the point, he isnt sponsoring because they are helping him sell renewable energy in a valuable regional market.
It is by chance thats where he is building some undesirable things, and is using this as a carrot to appease the locals.
Its got nothing to do with the value to advertisers for regional markets. If he was trying to sell a product and saw regional australia as a key sales market for it then sure, but thats not why he's decided to sponsor them with a shonky renewable energy company brand that is losing hundreds of millions $'s.

Fact is 90% advertising spend is in metro, not regional markets,

Still waiting for that data link to back up this claim?

He’s sponsoring them because they are in an area he wants to invest in

afl don’t have a team there so they miss out

this is an example of why your argument about purely metro teams is so stupid

FMD you speak some shit.

If you add Foxtel STB (49,141,000) and Foxtel Streaming services (48,631,000) then you are left with an average of 479,274 viewers over 204 games. It's still behind the 580,068 watching on FTA.

I'll note that Cowboys were the fourth most watched team on PTV. Not bad for a club that you think should have been culled in 1997.

We all know that The Dolphins entering the NRL have sent Vicky Kicky house into a tailspin. Imagine their reaction when the PNG team is based in North Queensland and then followed by Brisbane 3 and NZ 2, which will effectively stop any further expansion of Vicky Kicky into Queensland and New Zealand.

Whilst RL’s numbers in QLD are above average it’s critical to acknowledge that the fundamental reason behind its importance is viewers being receptive to advertising. Which doesn’t happen in QLD because none of them can read.
