Um..u don't understand what straw man means. Never said NRL should bend over backwards, but definitely there is give & take in relationship with broadcaster. NFL is biggest thing on USA TV (by some way) & even it must accommodate broadcasters to some degree, after all TV foots a lot of its revenue.

You have changed your opinion then because what you’re saying now (which is correct) is quite a bit different to this

“To get more money from broadcasters we should give them what they request. Simples”

With reference to that statement your NFL example was definitely an exaggeration (or a misrepresented proposition: you know a strawman) because even though the NFL might concede on that point they don’t just give broadcasters what they request. Mainly because they have goals that don’t perfectly align with that of broadcasters.

Taken me out of context. Regarding expansion NRL should give broadcasters what they want; more se qld teams. Simples

Ur meltdowns are like clockwork; every 3 months..

So are your little announcements saying you’re leaving the place. Or your threads about Perth.

The difference between you and me is that I don’t pretend to be somebody I’m not. I don’t claim that I don’t attack people and then go and attack people. Or be caught out making false statements and then pretend that I didn’t say them.

I don't claim to be anything great or good. Just don't want to get caught up in all the name calling & time wasting bs that goes on here.

You have made multiple posts claiming that you don’t attack people that yet you do exactly that. That’s called hypocrisy.

What was the topic we were talking about when i made that comment?!

I don’t remember you stating that we should give and take. I remember you stating that we should give broadcasters what they want in terms referencing a side in South East Queensland. I said that was naive and that it hasn’t worked for us. It is definitely not simples.

I then remember asking you whether you think that strategy works and has worked for us in the past.

One example which is only about timeslots. I’m sure the NFL, MLB, NBA etc go up to broadcasters and say we are not independent bodies with our own goals/strategies and we’ll just do whatever you want us to do.

In other words you want the game to repeat what it has done over the past how many years (i.e. have no backbone) and to expect what? A different result this time?

If we go in and just deal with the existing broadcasters of Fox/Nine and just bend over to them, we’ll get another s*** deal.
Ch7 won't have any money to it in a serious bid. That leaves us with Ch9/STAN, Ch10/Paramount+, Foxtel, Prime and Disney.

Probably not for the whole thing. It depends though if they want to seperate the rights for the State of Origin and rep games. I have read reports that Channel 7 are keen on that.

On the other stuff, good. Just more than the current broadcasters to bid for it. That’s more likely to drive up prices on a bid then say where you put the side; hence why you make that decision based on what you want rather than what a specific broadcaster may or may not want.

I hope Ch9/STAN get the lot. It'll help bring hard-core RU fans back on board.

Whilst I understand your position, I think Channel 9 have been absolutely awful for the game and I would be more than happy for the game to go somewhere else

Their commentary is horrid and they don’t promote the game well at all. They tend to promote the fumblers just as much as our game.

Even taking that out of the equation, they have shown their stripes multiple times now - claiming they can’t offer any more and then going out and purchasing RU and biding on multiple occasions for the fumblers and winning the rights on one occasion (and significantly more money than they offer us as well)

Ch10 and paramount (or prime) would be a breath of fresh air for the game. Ch9 is horrible and Fox is boring and so agenda driven still.

The big problem is most of the print media is owned by Ch9 and News Ltd. If we end up on Ch10/Paramount then we'll lose a lot of free advertising. Viewership could dwindle.

No-one can explain to me what Bri3 is catering for that isn't offered by the existing SEQ NRL teams now
- A local presence in Ipswich representing the rapidly growing Western Corridor

- A chance to sew up one of the largest regions in the country (SEQ) as a Rugby League heartland forever with NRL teams in the North, West, City and South.

- A chance for the NRL to grow in and with a rapidly growing SEQ region, again ensuring that RL is the number 1 sport for generations to come.

- Given that RL is the number 1 sport in the region with loyal and strong support for and participation in the game, it is a reward and acknowledgement for SEQ and QLD for that contribution.

- 4 NRL clubs walks the line between growth and saturation and makes it extremely tough for rival codes to add additional teams into their comps in SEQ, again making sure that we capture the hearts and minds for generations to come.

The Dolphins were an overdue move and it is for now (extra 30k members, great TV ratings, 32k average at Suncorp). Western Corridor (whilst will do very well now) is about the future and growing with an expanding heartland.

All of the above is being offered by the Broncos right now.

I think Bri3 should happen just not straight after the Dolphins, maybe in 10 years or so.

It would mean we have added 3 teams in SEQ since 2007. That isn't expansion.

The team will play out of Lang Park, to it won't be "local". All of the above is being offered by the Broncos right now.

I don't think they would be, well not in the longer-term anyway. There was a proposal as part of the Jets bid to build a boutique ground at Ipswich should they get a licence which makes complete sense.

When we do get to the point where the Jets are added, you definitely won't have Broncos, Dolphins, Jets, Reds and Roar all playing out of the same stadium.

I agree that they shouldn't be added now. Bring in Perth, NZ2 and then revisit SEQ.
