Yes i agree perth is a must, but not until we have more players in the player pool, i also think that Victoria having a 2nd side is more important to the overall game for the future having multiple teams in our 3 biggest major capitals should solidify us as a national sport, and create great derbys, at the moment its Storm and Canberra, or anzac day with the warriors, we should be bolstering the storm with a local derby to get the 5 million Victorians interested, at the moment they see the storm as secondary team to follow when their AFL team has bombed out of the finals...
Both those areas needthe player pool to increase before venturing into them... hence why PNG is the 1st picked.. out of the 3 licences, besides QLD are needing some breathing room for dolphins to cement themselves for some seasons rushing in another SEQ team might not be beneficial

I don't disagree that we should be looking further afield also. For me the best plan seems to be:

18. Perth
19. Christchurch
20. Jets (this is a crucial piece of the underserviced SEQ market, it is growing rapidly)

Then when the game is rolling in the cash of that expansion, we should approach the Government for some support and do PNG properly and invest in Adelaide. Both will be long-term and costly but you have set a financial base to be able to afford it at that point.
I would be fine with those 3 coming in next and in that order. Putting teams in Perth or NZ sends a stronger message to our competitors than putting a 3rd consecutive team in SEQLD.

All those people in Brisbane are league fans now, and have a team/s to follow.

The Brisbane Lions playing out of the Gabba isn't suddenly going to appeal to them anymore then it has since 1991.

I agree with what you're saying. The problem is @mongoose, @The Great Dane, @Perth Red and @Bukowski and even @MugaB think it's more important to expand into Perth before Ipswich/Logan.

If we leave the door open wide enough in southern Brisbane then fumbleball will make further inroads. The growing Auskick numbers in the western corridor is a sign we need an NRL club representing the region and invest money in developing the game at the junior level. The Broncos have been useless on this front because News Ltd don't give a f**k about the health of QRL. Murdoch said in an AwFuL press conference he's going to use his media platform to grow fumbleball in Brisbane and Sydney.

Yesterday I found out that fumbleball was growing its AusKick numbers in northwestern Brisbane and Moreton Bay a few years ago. I think that's one of the reasons the ARLC chose the Dolphins for the 17th licence. Abdo and V'landys said the Dolphins were brought in to safeguard the game against fumbleball.

There's no point trying to carve out a tiny niche in Perth if it comes at the expense of losing a significant portion of Ipswich and Logan to fumbleball.

Think of all the Queensland and Australian representative players that have come from Ipswich and Logan?

Losing just one or two star juniors from these nurseries could set Queensland back in Origin.
lol, so afl is carving out a market in seq and 3 clubs ain’t enough to foght it, but nrl can’t carve out a market in wa? Hmmmm you really dont think much of our sport do you?

Can Melbourne support two teams?

I worry that a second team would end up like the Melbourne Heart. In the worst case scenario it could lead to the Storm struggling, too. I'd place Perth well ahead of Melbourne 2.

I'm concerned about fumbleball paying new schools in Queensland to install fumbleball posts on their ovals. They've targeted Brisbane because it's underserviced by the NRL. The ARLC doesn't have the money to counter the millions AwFuL throws at junior development in Queensland. We need a team in southern Brisbane to spend a few million each year on juniors in their catchment.

You've been arguing for years that the ARLC doesn't invest enough money on the grassroots. Dolphins are investing in junior football.

Perth obviously as Brisbane jets tiger firehawks isnt expansion, merely consolidation of an already reached market.
