Brisbane Tigers make their bid to be 18th team

If Adelaide is such a pie-in-the-sky idea that's 20 years from being viable, then how did the Rams manage to make decent crowds & a profit, despite being a "thrown together" last-minute team to make up the numbers in Superleague?

The Rams promising start suggests to me that there's a latent market there - and a latent market that was already there about 25 years ago, not one that's 20 years from now.

There's no one from the Adelaide business sector willing to bid for a licence and bankroll a team.

The ARLC are not going to spend tens of millions of dollars building a team from scratch and run it for 10 or 20 years until there's interest from the commercial sector.

Perth is a genuine possibility because there's interested bidders from the business sector and WA Gov.

The Pasika/PNG idea will fizzle out when the ARLC and Gov realise the logistics and economics are insurmountable.

NZ2 needs strong interest from the commercial sector. If Chalmers can pull off what he says then it's a genuine possibility.

Based on what? Not having a go it's of genuine interest.

Old logos I've seen on the internet and trawling through the newspapers at the state library.

The Redcliffe jersey featured a dolphin as its mascot in the 1970s.

U go months then need to explode with indignant wall of text saying somebody else's behavior is reprehensible. Very childish to be that sanctimonious on site were ppl just spitt ball ideas & the like

That part doesn’t make sense sorry. I go months?

That’s your view and you’re entitled to it. Same as I disagree with your behaviour on this site and you’ll disagree with me.

Who is backing Perth?! Wa government won't pay much

Cummins and Sage are two options. We'll know more once the WA Gov releases their report on the viability of a Perth-based team.

New clubs are popping up in WA all the time. The game is growing nicely in Perth.

It's great we have interest from Brisbane, Perth, PNG and NZ. It shows we have a great product that can grow in its heartland and new markets.

Well let's see the bids before ppl saying we need Perth team. Right now there's no bids

V'landys hasn't given potential bidders an incentive to state their case. He should have sat down with the WA Gov officials who attended Magic Round last year. He could have used it to see just how much money the WA Gov is willing to invest on infrastructure.

Of course, correlation does not equal causation, BUT the Miami Dolphins were in there heyday in 1971 and 1972 (when they went undefeated).

Similarly the Raiders, Broncos, Steelers and Cowboys were all named at a time that correlated with massive success of their respective NFL teams.

We keep hearing how flush with cash the ARLC is, and yet there is seemingly no money for expansion.
