Brisbane Tigers make their bid to be 18th team

Why do you keep using Adelaide as an arguement?

I've barely mentioned it.

For mine, the enduring support of AFL teams in Sydney and Brisbane shows that like the Storm, we should be looking to markets like Perth and Adelaide.
I'm against a third NRL Brisbane team, so soon after the Dolphins. That point I'm clear on.

Adelaide is well behind Perth for mine, but would certainly be well ahead of Singapore, which is just a poorly thought out brain fart of an idea.

Sound familiar?

I never said Singapore would get a team, BTW.

Perth is the next candidate for mine..

If a Perth-based consortium puts in a better bid than the Brisbane Tigers then it deserves to be awarded the 18th licence.

The big problem with your "view" is you're overlooking the ARLC's insistence that the 18th team presents a strong business case that adds money to the game.

The Origin thing is a non-sequitor deflection. And, for the record, a highly stupid idea.

It proves you're full of shit. On the one hand you think that taking Origin to regional Queensland and NSW is "stupid", -- despite the fact the two teams are Queensland and NSW -- because it might generate less revenue from game day, yet you think the ARLC shouldn't take game day into consideration when deciding on the 18th team. If you cannot see the cognitive dissonance then you are beyond help.

Origin in Townsville and Newcastle will generate a profit from game day operations. There's no guarantee that an Adelaide-based NRL team will be able to generate enough from ticketing, sponsorship and corporate hospitality to cover stadium rental costs, let alone their football department.

You once said anyone who supported Donald Trump and not Hillary Clinton must be mentally ill.

Let that sink in.

Anyone who doesn't think just like you and has a mind of their own is "mentally ill".

Tell me again how you think the media companies and ARLC are conspiring to keep rugby league out of Perth?

You once said the ARLC and ARU have a secret agreement to not put an NRL team in Perth so that the Western Force don't have any competition.

It's a forum where most people shitpost.. you're taking this too seriously and trying to hard.

An NRL team would probably seriously have a negative impact on RU in Perth, just like League has on the east coast, so that theory is not as far fetched as you think. It's possible elites would be trying to protect union...

It's a long term investment, that will give returns in 20 to 30 years time, help expand the player pool and increase sponsorship opportunities.

Limiting the games appeal to just QLD and NSW will ensure we are dwarfed by the AFL in that same time frame.

Rest assured, I'm confident that the ARLC will select QLD5/BRI3 as the next team, given who insular and short sighted they are.

And despite all the bluster, there won't be enough funds or will power to expand beyond 18 teams for a decade or more.

Keep this shit out of here.

Australians whose identity is tied to US politics are sad losers.

I don't care about U.S. politics. Or its stupid sports. Or its dumb TV programs and movies. The lefties on LU loved to hate on Trump Back in the day. You were one of the obnoxious trolls who sat in Four Corners obsessing over the man.

The same could be said for Singapore. It's bigger than Sydney and richer. It has a world class stadium. You reckon it's a "brain fart".

Going by what V'landys and Abdo have been telling us for years, the ARLC has no interest in subsidising a team from a non-RL market. They've said the 18th team needs to present a strong business case and bring money into the game from day 1. Adelaide does not have a consortium bidding for a team. It's not a candidate for expansion.

Limiting the games appeal to just QLD and NSW will ensure we are dwarfed by the AFL in that same time frame.

So you're saying the ARLC should invest in an Adelaide team, despite them telling us the next team must be sustainable because it won't be propped up with extra funding?

Now you're gettin' it!

If you live in Sydney you can pay your respects at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park Cemetery 12 Military Rd Matraville, Randwick, NSW

Not sure how I feel about the resurrection of dirty reds in recent times, but l loved reading about glebe team as a kid. Frank Burge was a legend. Balmain & South's pushed out the club & ironically cried when same thing was happening to them. History of Sydney can be told through nswrl

That includes Magic Round at Lang Park you dope!

They've played 7 games at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium for an average of 16.8k.

Why did you ignore the Docklands games?

Did you forget they are playing there? Or are you being deliberately disingenuous?

And where does there crowds rank in comparison to other clubs if you are going to exclude Magic Round?

And yes Singapore is a poorly thought out brain fart, to be clear.

Rugby league was broke and crowds were dismal. The NRL we know today probably wouldn’t exist in the same form if it wasn’t for what happened next: the entry of Sydney businessman James Joynton Smith.

Smith financed an audacious raid on rugby union, with almost all the 1908-09 Wallabies team defecting to league, including Olympic gold medalists Robert Craig, Chris McKivat and Arthur McCabe.

I don't know how a dope like Albo got in. Remember when be said people can use their solar panels to charge their electric cars at night?

I wouldn't be surprised if he wears dentures. He supports Souffs.
