mate, I think you have some serious mental problems, or you are a good troll... I don't know what else to say? this whole reply is just deranged. Firstly I'm not even pushing for an Adelaide team, I'm using them as an example of an area that has very little exposure to the sport. I can't even remember what the crux of that debate was?SO you want to limit the game's potential growth in Brisbane just so you can create a small club that generates niche support in Adelaide?
There's no words to describe that sort of stupidity and insanity.
If you think a small Adelaide club that will never be anything but niche at best is more important than a third Brisbane club that generates two to three times more revenue from football operations -- better viewing numbers on a weekly basis -- then you're not very bright and need to see a psychiatrist.
What this all boils down to is you're insecure about the Raiders. You know your club is based in a small regional city that prefers fumbleball and rugby union over rugby league. Its future is up in the air because the ACT Gov will never invest in a new stadium and are actively pursuing an AwFuL club of its own.
Tl;Dr
You're insecure because your club hasn't been worth anything to anyone for the best part of 30 years. Suck it up and move on.
It really bothers you to see Brisbane grow because it reminds you that Canberra will never be anything but a small regional city that no one cares about. It pisses you off because you had to escape to Brisbane to get away from Canberra's bitterly cold winters and lacklustre nightlife. Now you're seeing Brisbane transform into a genuine worldly city on every metric and it reminds you of your beginnings in poor old unloved Canberra. A third Brisbane team will remind you that Brisbane is a better and bigger place than Canberra will ever be, and that shits you to no end because you think you're better than Queenslanders.
Blah blah blah.
Accept it buddy, Politis has sway and you don't. The idea of expanding to a 20 team competiton was suggested to the ARLC by him.
Back in 2020 you said Perth was just as likely as Brisbane to get the 17th licence. You dismissed all the evidence I provided from figureheads within the game as "throwaway lines". Those so-called "throwaway lines" about Brisbane being the location of the 17th licence turned out to be true. You just didn't want them to be true so you deluded yourself into believing they were "throwaway lines". All of the sources I quoted turned out to be right.
You ridiculed me when I said traditional BRL clubs should be introduced into the NRL. We got three traditional BRL clubs bid for the 17th licence. Their bids were so strong that the cashed up "neutral" Brisbane Bombers merged with one. More proof that my idea was right and you were wrong. Reality eventually caught up wirh you and your mates who laughed at the idea of a traditional BRL club entering the NRL. Watching you and your mates whine like bitches in the aftermath of the Dolphins' inclusion was delicious.
You're also stupid and crazy enough to think there's a conspiracy by the ARLC and broadcasters to keep the NRL out of Adelaide and Perth, yet you say there's no way they'll add a third team to Brisbane. Talk about being all over the place. You've deluded yourself into only seeing what you want to see.
I couldn't give a f**k about what you think because your posts demonstrate you don't think at all.
You don't have a clue how much money is needed to operate an NRL club. The other day you foolishly said that revenue from football operations is irrelevant because the "ARLC provides a grant that covers all expenses of running a club", or something along those lines.
That's complete bullshit!
The annual grant has risen up to $17-18m per club. Before the new deal it was less than $15m. The smallest clubs have been operating on an annual budget of about $25m for years. The bigger clubs operate on $35-40m.
If you cannot get this right then you're in no position to talk about expansion.
A club in Adelaide will need to invest significantly more on its football department (than a heartland club does) if it wants to be successful enough on the park to make headway in a pro-fumbleball market. Money will need to be invested on talent scouts and development officers to identify the best talent in heartland areas and recruit them to Adelaide because there's f**k all talent running around the field in the Adelaide competition.
This is the formula Melbourne used to become so successful on the field.
The problem is the Storm were subsidised by News Ltd and the ARLC for 20 years. Now they're on their own and aren't recruiting as many talented juniors from Queensland and NSW because they're privately owned and can only spend what their owners are willing to invest.
Pretty much everything you've said on this thread has been bullshit and easy to refute.
Don't stress so much mate. You've obviously put a fair bit of effort into your research and unless you are a part of the "Heads of Sheds" our opinions won't win a war.
I think we have to look 20 years into the future because if we look through those glasses we'll see a third Brisbane based team, seem obvious to me.
I'm still not convinced that Adelaide, NZ or Perth are the places for extra teams. Just my opinion and it's not based on trends, facts or expert opinion.
Bro two immortals I’m soooo jealousAbsolutely, all the boys from that era. I was only 12 in 69 so I litterally looked up to them.
I remember being ballboy once at a LO game and they gave me the ball. I kept it most of my life till I got divorced....my ex took my cattle dog to the pound to be put down and threw my ball amongst other memorabilia in the bin... I still haven't got over it.
I've still have a metal stud that came loose in Norm's boot in one of the grand finals, it's one of the old ones that is held in place with hob nails not screw ins. Hence why the touchies checked the studs.
Much better than listening to the logan potato dribble on about annual reports and strawman argumentsNo, it's good stuff ur posting.

I wouldn’t cross the street to say hello to any current player but those guys are what made the game what it is today
my family talked about Corowa too he was supposed to be good
Your ex is a c@@t both for the dog and the ball
I was at an auction for Balmain and I had a choice of Elias / roach / Pearce / jack orign or Aussie jersey
I got blockers origin jersey but then my sister used it as a pj and its been ruined lol
Wonder which gf that stud is from
I also had a photo of gasnier raper and langlands signed but it got water damaged when I moved house
Are we really doing a bad job? That's the sort of insular thinking that our game is known for unfortunately.
In 30 years we've expanded by only by adding two new teams in SEQ, and now we are saying let's add a third?
Yes going interstate, it's a big investment, but is the League flush with funds, and won't said investment pay off long term via TV rights, player numbers, increased fans and corporate sponsors?
Don't we won't to be a national sport? And not a two state regional one?

I'm also proud to be the cousin of Christopher Robert McKivat.
Google him because he was one of our greatest league and union captains.

We we aren't national and haven't undertaken a proper expansion since 1997.Are we really doing a bad job?
Sort of going with this thread I often wonder why we don't embrace traditional as mush as we want expansion.we are not worthy - Google Search

They say if you snooze you lose so I can understand why we need to keep up with growing areas and provide them with the best game on the planet.
The analogy of a car is only as good as it's wheels rings true when you consider where our heart is, and that is Sydney.
Earlier I said that the nucleus or hub is important, that being Sydney in NSW, Brisbane in Qld, Melbourne in Victoria and Townsville in FNQ. If you keep them strong we will have a future.
Some have disagreed with this already but I think we are progressing as needed. Are we really doing a bad job?

Fair enough, I get it. I've travelled a lot around Australia and I just didn't feel the vibe of anyone supporting or withstanding expansion other than Brisbane. We we aren't national and haven't undertaken a proper expansion since 1997.
I wouldn't rate that very highly.
AFL has merged clubs too Wb.They kicked out south’s Sydney and merged the dragons. Norths kicked out and Balmain and wests merged
then they wondered why afl and union became so popular
left with one foundation club
Eddie McGuire was asked once if afl would copy rugby league and merge clubsAFL has merged clubs too Wb.
