Broncos chances in 2016

I am tipping Brisbane to be in the GF in '16. They will be there for the following reasons: one town team, heaps of third party money, Maguire is back in '16, a back line that has Hunt, Milford and Roberts, the Bennett factor. Bennett will have already put his team on notice for '16. He knows that on paper at least they are the best team in the comp. This of course all depends on major injuries to key players.

The Cowboys are still a better team on paper. Better fullback, better hooker, much better halfback, better front row and better bench.

The B2B factor still makes the Broncos favourites, though. From a Cowboys perspective I just worry about a hangover season for the likes of Taumalolo and Tamou. It happened to us with the likes of JWH and and Cordner in 2014 who experienced a massive drop off.

The Broncos have a fine top 17 - 18 players but after that they seriously drop off in terms of experience and talent.

I disagree on a few points. Both fullbacks are as good as each other, they offer different things that suit their respective sides, same with the hookers, JT is JT so yep definitely better ( not that I would trade), Front row is debatable, Scott is certainly great, but I would take McGuire, Blair and Thaiday ahead of Tamou any day, as for the bench, Brisbane will have 2 international players on their bench for starters...

I think what makes Brisbane favorites ahead of North Queensland is we have a slight edge in more positions, and it'sonly just.

With the roster they should be at least be contesting a grand final entry again however I doubt they get to the big game again so soon because mentally a loss like that is very very hard to get over.

In terms of favourites its natural to go with the runner up, I'm pretty sure the Cows were in 06 etc.

Rosters, imo are over rated, players form changes dramatically from season to season as do combinations.

IMO brisbanes problem is they are only able to sustain attacking football that puts pressure on the opposition for short periods of time. They have a very strong roster. But the way uncle wayne has them playing whilst might be good enough for a premiership it will only do so if better attacking / creative sides (almost half the comp) stumble in terms of their concentration and defence.

NQLD has by far the biggest up side, they own the comp with an average defence, if they continue to attack strongly and improve their defence they will be super strong.

normally i would say they will suffer the losing grand final syndrome which usually is a disappointing season followed by strong season in 2017.

however the interchange rule will favour teams with fast little men who could tear apart tiring forwards in the last 20 minutes game. The current Bronco's halves both have a decent running game which will be favoured with the new rule and they added James Roberts into the mix as well. I predict Broncos will be scoring big time in the last 20 minutes of each game, should see them have a great year , barring injuries.

The good news for the Broncos is that 2017 and 2018 will be just as likely? Would only lose Parker and possibly Thaiday during that time and have Oates and Arrow coming through. A real premiership window for the Broncos. 2015 was just a lucky one for us, many predicted that we wouldn't even make the 8.

"Broncos won't make the 8".

12 months later they have the same squad except for Roberts instead of Hodges and now they are rorting the cap.
