I worked last night so have only just seen the footage, courtesy of the Telegraph's website.
Gotta agree with all in here - what a f***ing beat-up.
Not sure how it was shown on tv, but on the net there is a line of Ch9 logos right across the middle of the screen from one side to the other. Which sends a clear message:- they paid a LOT of money for it. Any other footage we've seen from any other incident in the past has never had the "exclusive" holders logos so brazenly stamped across it.
Which gets me thinking:- Surely anyone in their right mind can see it is nothing more than some drunken harlot and her mate trying to cash in on an opportunity. Ch9 are part-owners of the NRL, are they not? Surely they should be trying to protect the image of their package by keeping this kind of crap off the screens. Why are they not called to answer for bringing the game into disrepute?
Unbe-f***ing-lievable.
Now, having said that, I have no issue with the club taking the action they have for Seymour putting himself in a position where this was possible. FFS, it's only just over a week since the Manly saga broke out. Surely players have to be a little more aware of WTF they are doing.
Our club is, reportedly, on the brink and anything which can paint the club in a bad light will only make it harder to attract sponsors. What if LG walk away? How long before we really start to feel the pinch without their support?
I'm like everyone else here:- I want to see us win a premiership. This may or may not be the year, anything can happen in the next 26 weeks or, indeed, on GF day to prevent that.
It's one of the great intangibles. However, if standing a player aside for a couple of weeks in order to send a loud and clear message to everyone on board that this behaviour absolutely will NOT be tolerated means we keep our sponsors and live to fight another year then I'm all for it.
I would rather have a team to support, than a team which may or may not win it one year, but is extinct the next.
