Expansion being pushed back to 2015 will hurt the Central Coast Bears bid imo.

The Bears deserve to the be one of the next teams though.

Hasn't Craig Davison got David Gallop furious!!!! From Gallops comments today, would suggest nothings changed in the past few weeks....expansion yes, and sometime from 2013 to 2015, depending on how long the IC takes to get finalised. Here come the Bears!

what did Gallop say today? Sackson has also come out with comments about the delay but not quite as strong as Davison's!

"I gave the strongest indication yet that I expect expansion to happen by 2015 or earlier," Gallop fired.

"I am therefore surprised that the Brisbane bid people have chosen to go off half-cocked about it.

"Rather than throwing unsubstantiated dollar figures around, they should start putting some meat on their own bone.

"Expansion will come but it will take more than threatening to sign Sonny Bill Williams and any other headline name they can think of to get a franchise in this competition."

Business as usual for the Central Coast Bears

Posted Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:02pm AEST

The Central Coast Bears' Chief Executive says he remains focussed on entry to the NRL in 2013, despite league boss David Gallop flagging the expansion may not happen until 2015.

Over the weekend, Mr Gallop suggested a delay in the NRL expansion to give existing clubs time to stabilise themselves under a new broadcast deal due to be in place by 2013.

But Bears' CEO Greg Florimo says while he wants Mr Gallop to clarify his comments when they meet later this week, it is business as usual for the club.

"Obviously David's comments are just that, comments. There is no real strategic decision based around them. The Independent Commission will be the ones to make that decision so until that group is formed, it is all just speculation at this point," he said.

Sorry but you're wrong mate. The levels of corporate, sponsor, community and fan support proves that the Central Coast Bears will not only be sustainable but it will be a club which will prosper.

Pfft...

The Bears only look out for the Bears...

An honest mistake. Also you're views on the Bears are disturbingly far from the truth. The Bears look out for an extensive number of parties, from fans to juniors to charities to schools to many more. I get it you don't like the Bears, that's ok but don't be talking bulldust.

Central Coast Bears chief meets NRL boss

The Central Coast Bears' Chief Executive acknowledges 2015 may be a more realistic timeframe for his club's entry into the NRL after talks with league boss, David Gallop today.
Over the weekend, Mr Gallop flagged the NRL's expansion may be pushed out from 2013 to 2015 to give existing clubs time to stabilise themselves under a new broadcast deal.
The Bears' CEO Greg Florimo says while the club is still aiming to be ready for 2013, he accepts 2015 would be more practical.
"We have generated a lot of interest and a lot of support up to this point and people are expecting 2013 to be the date but it would also give us the chance to recruit the very best players and make sure that we go into the competition with an outstanding team...So it would certainly give us some breathing space," he said.
