Central Coast Bears Franchise.

Cons - They had a team that played 50% of their matches there and were getting pitifully small crowds. The smallest in the NRL by a long way. There's a reason they ditched the Central Coast arrangement a long-time before the deal ended.

Incorrect. in 2000 they averaged 15,610 to Grahame Park and in 2001 11,565. Neither anywhere near the lowest in the NRL by a long way.

If it were left up to me Dally I would put a criteria in place to all the Sydney teams to get their acts together. If any of them cannot make the criteria, take the money and go to Gosford, SC, or Perth or be annexed from the comp. Then and only then after an annexing, you could have your beloved Bears.

thats not going to happen.

if no sydeny team wants to move there (they dont) what happens next?

do we give up on the area or expand.

if we expand it should be the bears.

Northern Eagles 2nd last in crowd averages in 2001, Canberra last.

So I don't like to speak on behalf of anyone, but I am guessing it was a serious post.

any RL fan would know the bit in bold was the problem, especially manly treating gosford like s**t.

As North Sydney Bears fans, what is the general reaction of a possible relocation to the Central Coast? Are many Bears fans for or against the idea? How many do you think will make the trip north? Or will it turn more fans away from the game/Bears? And if it does happen do you think the CC Bears should try and keep a foot in North Sydney or do you think they should solely concentrate on Central Coast with regards to junior clubs etc?

Most are all for it, realistically its the only way the BEARS will be back in the NRL. Many will travel to the CC, but many old school norths fans will go to sydney away matches [but if you live in say hornsby then gosford is closer than the shire anyway]. Red & Black CC Bears they'll be but other than say the Manly match at the NSO it has to be a whole of gosford thing, CC Bears, CC focus-everything CC centred.

and a handful of months earlier the CC people had been promised a fulltime CC team, they got a Manly dominated 'franchise' they knew would run back to brookie when the finances improved and they didn't need the NRL JV coin to prop them up {before the arrive of St Max of Delmege}. The crowds were crap because people don't bother to go to a funeral before the body is dead.

There are more important areas to expand to than the Central Coast.

I sympathise with Bear fans, but as Mighty Bears has conceded in a way...Bears supporters don't care if their team was on the CC, they just want their team back for the sake of having their team back, it could be anywhere. And that is totally understandable.

But while there are bigger areas that are more league-starved then CC can take a back seat.

The only way Central Coast will get their own team is when two sydney teams merge. That will free up a franchise for them.

How can the nrl say no to a franchise from that area and being the bears.

advantages :

1. RL represented in another strongly growing area.
2. Lots of juniors to draw from in the central coast area.
3. Strong finances with Nth Sydney and gosford LC behind them
4. Fantastic new ground with a train station and LC close by
5. Easy commute from sydney for nth sydney fans and sydeny teams playing there
6. 2 massive derby games vs manly and newcastle.
7. another foundation club resurrected so RL recognizing and reviving its history
8. get some of the fans we lost to AFL and union once the bears were killed off
9. engender good feeling about the game for RL fans

a further idea would be to play a couple of games each year at north sydney oval as well for the old norths fans.

the derby game vs manly would be massive there, and maybe the game against souths and the one against easts.

the Central Coast is a RL area. weve ignored it for too long. norths were originally promised a spot in the nrl if they moved to gosford and only bad rain kept them out as the ground wasnt finished on time.

with it being unlikely any sydney club will relocate there the nrl needs to step up and do this.

If it was up to me, they'd be called the North Sydney - Central Coast Bears and alternate home grounds between North Syd Oval and the CC Stadium.

gallop has highlighted it though as important along with perth and wellington.

another queensland team, adelaide or png would all rank after gosford.

I didn't mind the Manly/Roosters merger, and that's only because they both love their cafe lattes.

It never amazes me how people always find a way for their own club to survive unscathed. Penrith has a smaller supporter base than Manly...If the Bears hadn't of gone skint they would have occupied position number 15 on the criteria.

Also-The Northern Beaches are not part of the North Shore. They're both part of the Northern Suburbs. And there's approximately 1sqm of spare space in the 'Mosman/Neutral Bay' area and a sh*tty (in places) two lane carraige way that connects the Northern Beaches and City.

Hey Ronny, I understand your frustrations. I too would use pointless name calling if I had nothing relevant to say.

As an advocate for expansion, we all know that Rupert is too, I mean if it wasn't for him Adelaide and Perth wouldn't be playing in the NRL...whoops.

lol another QLD team take rank after CC????

QLD is the biggest league supporting area, the level of participation, ratings, exposure, and money. QLD makes CC look like a drop in the ocean, why do you think NSW clubs come flocking there instead of the CC.

Your a f*ckwitt!

Take a look at your own backyard finance wise.

And don't worry about our territory we'll be owning the whole of the St.George & Illawarra region very soon when they collapse.

Um, St George/Illawarra won't be collapsing anytime soon. That's nothing more than wishful thinking on your behalf.

after the titans got in, they can wait a bit cant they.

if CC miss out in 2012ish with it being perth and wellington, then theyll come in around 2018ish with a 4th queensland team

Oh I see, with NSW having 11 teams already I guess QLD should take a back seat after getting its 3rd team, forget the number of juniors participating, the corporate oppurtunities, the huge regions without a league team.

If anything Sunshine Coast and SW QLD will get picking over CC. If CC was ever going to happen, it would have been done already.
