Channel 10 interviewed and filmed a few CCBears supporters today outside Suncorp Stadium today after the Brisbane 2 bid launch. Hopefully it makes it on news at 5 on channel 10 later. Go the Bears!

Hey the CCBears having been using their media time to touch on ongoing development. Since 2008 this Greg Florimo lead bid has acknowledged we were never guaranteed a spot in expansion but the NRL were very positive by what the CCBears were trying to achieve and were achieving. We've been positive about expansion and completely focused on the CCBears bid. The fans are making more noise then the bid team itself at times which speaks volumes on the support we have.

You can't slander other bids and not expect reaction. There are many Bears fans in QLD. It's time now
for every bid to go hard. Brisbane 2 have made their intentions known and it somewhat crosses over with Ipswich Jets own plans. Central Qld can't be underestimated because their pockets are very deep. WA is a new frontier, even though we've been there before there needs to be growth in WA. CC has a
huge groundswell of support.

What happens if a new franchise is struggling in their first few years? Can the NRL prop them up? How sound are each bids business plans and financial plans? The real important issues have not been revealed and won't be until each submitts their bid documents to the NRL.

People seem to forget that the NRL had the expansion door firmly shut before the Central Coast Bears knocked it down. Now all these other bandwagons bids have jumped on board. Would be a sad day if the bid that pushed that door down was the one that missed out.

but on the back of the Brisbane2 NRL bid launch today, it seems the Bears are well already of this bid.

Interesting point you bring up Red&blackbear...

What if the NRL expands, and one of those bids begins to struggle? maybe some sort of "temporary" licence that is subject to meeting criteria over a few years, or else their licence is withdrawn and given to another bid maybe?

That's true.

It's been a tragic decade and a half for the Bears. And missing out now after all of their hard work (and inadvertant leg up to the other bids) would be sad.

Unfortunately, being first doesn't make them the best. And, being the best now doesn't make them the best at the time the decision is made.

I geniunly hope we see Brisbane2, Perth and Central Coast in the competition at some stage.

It's a great shame that anybody will have to miss out really.

That would look very unprofessional for the competition to do.

The only problem i have with the current Brisbane2 bid is it's a very much rushed job.

Started in November last year for the 2013 season, everything about it seems rushed.

Right up to the less-then-expected launch that was disappointing in the areas of sponsors and website content (the design is great).

I would much rather go with WA and CC in 2013, leaving time to get the Brisbane2 bid 100% sound for 2015-onwards.

I agree (either way around, really).

I'd like to see WA and one of Brisbane/CC get the green light for 2013.

One true expansion team and one "consolidation" team (for lack of a better term).

MEMBERS have given Cronulla the green light to proceed with the $300m development that could potentially save the club from financial oblivion.
Several players, including Paul Gallen and Paul Aiton, looked on with interest as the 575 members in attendance voted 98 per cent in favour of the development.
Quote from the Daily Telegraph set for 22nd of Feb.

Cronulla look here to stay. So with 9 Sydney clubs all remaining solid, seriously, that's the worst possible news for the Central Coast Bears bid team right there.

The Central Coast Bears have arguably the most sound of all bids. Building on a slow burn, with a traditional League loving area waiting for representation. The worst enemy for the Bears are the number of clubs in Sydney. It will be influential when the time comes to make a decision on expansion. Expanding the competition to 18 teams will no doubt dilute the quality of the NRL competition, that is a no brain argument. But the game craves further representation in a non East Coast outpost (Perth)... And now a juggernaught appears to be looming in the Battle for Brisbane, all the while League heavies swoon and cream over the possibility of regular weekly weekend action at Lang Park.

The TV execs will continue to see our high ratings, the total NRL Foxtel domination of pay TV programming, they'll see our rising membership bases, the massive unrivalled Origin series, the new age superstars etc... but the final impression of a Sydney Centric East Coast Competition is what short changes us from the AFL TV top dollar.

And it may ultimately be the poison that keeps the Bears as a hard done by unit.

I wish it wasn't so. Cronulla have done you no favours.

While the NRL have put the Central Coast Bears on stand by twice now, the bid has no intentions and do not wish death on any club and we support the fact that Cronulla are saving and rebuilding themselves and securing a future.

From day one, the Central Coast Bears have been concerned about their bid and their bid only.

RnBBear, if the CC is knocked back again this time round, will the bid team still continue for expansion later down the track?

I would bring me great dissatisfaction to see this nomad team back

it would give many other people as well the same feeling.

i cant believe they are still serious about this.

die already

where is Neil when you need him?

Neil....we need to goto their place, mate - go inside. And. Kick. THEM. OUT!

..AGAIN....before they get back in.

this talk about cc is nonsense. unless its a proper relocation of a current sydney side.
