Just watched the NRL fan forum interview between Peter Sterling and David Gallop. Sterlo asked asked re expansion and mentioned Brisbane being a 1 team town. D.Gallop only wanted to talk Central Coast Bears and WA Reds as he has done for the past 6 months. He was very enthusiastic about the prospects of expansion, the keenest I've seen him yet........ The drums are beating..........

FROM BAREFOOT TO BEAR CUB! RILEY MCKAY THE CENTRAL COAST BEARS NO.1 CUB MEMBER

12th October, 2010 | Posted by Central Coast Bears.

From barefoot to bear cub – one of the world’s top junior barefoot waterskiers has been named the Central Coast Bears number one cub member.
12-year-old Central Coast sensation, Riley McKay is ranked among the top five junior female barefoot waterskiers in the world.

She recently returned from the World Barefoot Waterskiing World Championships in Germany, where she finished ninth overall – an impressive achievement given she was competing in the under-17 division.

Rugby League legend and Central Coast Bears CEO, Greg Florimo is delighted to announce Riley as the number one member of the Central Coast Bears Cubs – a new division of membership recently launched by the Central Coast Bears.

“We’re so impressed with how much Riley has achieved at such a young age."

“Her passion, commitment and determination mirror the philosophies we hold at the Central Coast Bears,” Florimo said. *

With the Central Coast Bears currently boasting 2880 members, the club recognised the need to acknowledge its younger fan base.

Cub memberships will now be available for anyone under 18-years. For $10 each member will receive a Central Coast Bears cap, wristband and sticker.

A rugby league fan, Riley says she can’t wait to cheer on the Central Coast Bears in 2013.

“I’m excited to be named the Central Coast Bears Cubs number one member,” said Riley.

“It will be so great to have our very team here to support.”

While there’s still work to do before the Central Coast Bears are granted an NRL license, these initiatives will help insure all members – big and small – will be able to get on board the Central Coast Bears bid.*

Congratulations to Dave Fairleigh and the Cook Islands on a hard earned victory over NSW Country Rep. This follows a successful gig that Daisy had with the Warriors coaching staff during the season. As the Central Coast Bears football operations manager and the inaugural head coach, Daisy will bring a vast knowledge and insight into today's player. Go the Bears!

When are the Bears going to start signing junior talent up for development? I know the Reds gave 3 year contracts to two fella's who I play against. They're in their SG team this year and you would assume be in the inaugural NYC team if their bid is successful for 2013.

Well the Bears already have Norths juniors and the Central Coast have theirs. As soon as it's green lighted you'll see signings.

Mmm I understood that far, but I mean are the local juniors being scouted at the moment or is that yet to begin? As I said two very good fellas from North Sydney district just got snapped up by the Reds, and just wondering if the Bears are aware that their locals could be snapped up if they don't act soon.

Oh definitely. We are scouting and Daisy is always keeping up to date with the gun juniors. There's been players earmarked for both our NRL and Toyota Cup sides. It's really just a case of letting us in and we can do up official contracts. Young fellas from the Central Coast and North Sydney have been sounde out.

Central Coast Bears G'day team,

Just letting you know that myself and Greg met with the NRL today in relation to our bid. Whilst there were no guarantees given, its fair to say that they were very impressed with our progress, and in particular the support we have received from both the Central Coast and North Shore Communities.

Once again they indicated that the strength of memberships is vital, particularly now that the decision for expansion will be handed over to the independent commission. We are still on track to submit our final bid in March, 2011.

Cheers Guys,
David Fairleigh
