True, how's that goin for ya?
Just fine.
LOL @ Souffs. DCE wont be joining your rabble
He might.
Come to the Tigers! Please!

1. Tedesco
6. Marshall
7. DCE
9. Farah

Pretty please?
1. Merritt/Inglis
6. Inglis/Reynolds
7. DCE
9. Luke

Both of those would be the spine of a contender.
I haven't read through this thread but did anyone else find the funniest part that it was pretty much confirmed that Sandow is on 550k.
People should have known it was true since Crowe said it. He would have been told by Sandows people precisely what he needed to pay to keep him. Sure maybe it was poor etiquette to release the number but he wouldn't have released the wrong number.
Tough titties. He signed a contract, he should honour it. Arian Foster in the NFL was the leading Rusher in the NFL a season ago, he was on a pittance in NFL standards, something like 500k his rookie contract. After his breakout season he could have comanded $50M+ over 5 years on the open market, but as he had a contract he honoured it, no prima dona hold outs.

Cherry-Evans will get his pay-day eventually.
He does an ACL next week? He comes back, does another serious injury. He comes back after that and he's a shell of his former self. Never sees that multi million 600k a year contract he looks certain to get now.

Footy is a tough sport with no certainties. You can't just assume everything will be right for the next 2 seasons.

I find it hard to believe DCE had no offers when he signed that contract.
Why? 12 months ago no one had heard of him. What would you offer a young unproven halfback from Hicksville, QLD that no one had ever heard of?

A month or so ago there was an article on a manager hawking around a young halfback to everyone, and no one nibbled, except Saints, who offered a very small contract. A little while later, the Dogs also offered a small contract, and won out because the kids mother reckoned he would be better looked after there.

The point is that we all hear about the big moves - but there is a huge pool of hopefuls in the cess pit of junior footy competing for a small amount of spots with NRL clubs. This kid was lucky, just like DCE. Still, dunno what happened to him, but I did find a recent pic of him

Triple M NRL ‏ @TripleM_NRL Daly Cherry Evans tells NRL on Fox he has rejected a four year offer from Manly. Negotiations continue #nrl

IMO that is all they could find for him. Not enough. Kinda obviously with another 2 rep spine players in the team to secure as well as others on plenty like G Stewart, Matai and Lyon.

A handful of clubs he could go to but IMO his long term future won't be with Manly. They just don't have the 500-650k he deserves.

Brisbane, Souths, Dogs, Easts and Dragons will be leading the pack.

Manly very much have the upper hand of re-signing Daly since they have the advantage of upgrading his current deal.
Normally you would be right but it's not much of an advantage if an upgrade is physically impossible.

There were rumours that just resigning your key players would put you over the cap for 2013. If you have such a lack of wiggle room an upgrade may not be doable.

A release request and a 4 year offer being declined suggest that may be the case.

Also I just want to make it clear I'm not deathriding and I haven't got my fingers crossed for DCE to do a runner.

While my team being in with a chance would obviously be great I'm on record as saying Foran and Cherry are 2 of my favourite players and I've enjoyed watching them. I even was cheering for Manly on GF day.

If Souths can't get DCE I hope he stays where he is and helps build something special.

Hopefully all will be found out soon as Daly's manager said he would hopefully have a deal in 2-3 weeks

You're right. Orr should have demanded $300k a season for an unproven half that there were no other offers for. How could Manly say no?

well he shouldnt have signed a 3 year deal for that amount

any first choice halfback should be on more then $80k a year, no matter how inexperienced they are

If he stunk it up last year or did an ACL two years in a row, would he have refused the $125,000 Manly would have been obligated to pay him next year? I can see why he's frustrated, but Manly were taking a risk on him not turning out shit and he was taking a risk he wouldn't be undervalued. If he didn't like the terms he should have signed elsewhere or negotiated incentive clauses into his contract.

Easy to say in hindsight, but he wasn't first choice when he signed, and if Hodkinson didn't leave for the Bulldogs he may well still be stuck behind him now.

They're certainly not losing both of them.

A five eighth of the year award and a CC medal from five eighth says you're dreaming. Next to the right 7 he can be a 6. DCE is certainly the right 7.

That was before he put on 40kg.

He's looking very, very fat this year.
