I'm not a Novocastrian.

I like other sports.

I admire other players outside of Newcastle.

I don't really like Johns that much socially from what I've seen.

BUT,

The fact remains that you are a nuffie in this big wide world, and you wish you were as rich and successful as Johns. I don't care what some American earns. What we are comparing is you and Johns' wages. His is a hell of alot better than yours. And no, I'm not judging you on wealth, it just seems that to you, the world revolves around money.

You wish you were Andrew Johns, like it or not.

trust me, i dont wish that.
If i wish to be any league player it would be Lockyer. If we are talking about wealth and the like then i would rather be Frank Lowy. Go look him up if you have NFI

I don't know who Frank Lowy is, simply because I am not money-hungry like you.

You wish you were Lockyer??? Does that mean your opinion is invalid, due to bias? Do you think the sun shines out of his arse?

According to you, it does.

If I was a league player, I would want to be SBW. I'd prefer to be Buderus over Johns, and I'd prefer to to be other players as well before Johns.

i am not $$$ obsessed either, but this topic has come to this.
IF i wanted to be any league player it would be Lockyer.

Back to the REAL topic.

Johns' window of opportunity to captain australia has closed as a result of his injury. Its no ones fault, just how it is. Someone else has taken the ball and run with it

I really don't care who is captain, however I believe Johns is a better captain than Lockyer is.

Never did I say Johns should be captain when he returns, I simply defended him when you said:

Lockyer to captain australia until he retires...he is a true leader unlike angry man johns.
Speaking of Johns, i see him sometimes laughing and carrying on the football field when the knights are winning (when they are losing he throws temper tantrums ) but thats ok isnt he...cause he is a newcastle boy and newcastle do no wrong do they

lockyer is quiet is he? you know that for a fact do you. Just because we see Johns throw his mouth guard, or GIVE it to his dummyhalf because of poor service doesnt mean he is a leader. Yeah thats GREAT leadership.

So Lockyer dosn't throw any tantrums nor does he say anything that wouldn't proclaim him in your eyes as the perfect role model ???

Charlie Saab said:
Walking around with a cast or neck breace is also good leadership  Yeah johns steps up alright...and then steps straight into an ACL tear.

So now your saying that a player who is injured isn't a good leader  So why are you talking so highly of Lockyer then ???

ding ding ding we have a new contender..
Ok tiger....The point i made about johns and his injuries is that he has been off the field the past 1 1/2 seasons. Johns is a good leader, but lockyer has stepped up and taken over that role. Lockyer suffered a broken rib in 2004, but it didnt keep him from missing the majority of the season did it?

Lockyer doesnt throw temper tantrums like Johns...never.

Now now this is actually what you said ;-)

"Walking around with a cast or neck breace is also good leadership Yeah johns steps up alright...and then steps straight into an ACL tear."

Now from your very own words it would appear that a person who gets a serious injury does not have the right to be called a good leader and infact it would appear this is actually humerous to you!

I don't have a problem with Lockyer put down as captain however I don't see the need in him being named captain before next season, its clear you agree with him being named now but I also think you are of the same belief that Berrigan and Carroll both deserved to be selected in the Australian tour squad for this year as well

I wish to God that Johns went to Union...just to see how you would have worshipped the wanker then.
Headlines would have been... "Australia league captain defects to union"....would have done league wonders wouldnt it.
But nooooooooooo...he stays with League and we are expected to bow down and kiss his Nikes....well not me mate.

So your the moron who actually believed Johns when he said he was considering Union? It was a negotiation tactic. That's all. Every player negotiates.

Johns' window of opportunity to captain australia has closed as a result of his injury. Its no ones fault, just how it is. Someone else has taken the ball and run with it

Lockyer got injured after 6 tests, with Buderus taking over. Yet you think Lockyer should have taken it back when he came back(which he did), but Johns shouldn't take it back? You sound like a hypcrit.

If Johns is injured again, Webcke should be captain. Certainly not Lockyer who has NFI how to captain.

Lockyer doesnt throw temper tantrums like Johns...never.

No he just makes jokes about rape

Johns never throws a temper tantrum. Do you know what a temper tantrum is? Johns gets angry with himself and follow players when they don't perform to their ability. That's all. So he should. Never seen him throw one tantrum in his life.

I wouldn't go there, Razor. Johns isn't exactly an angel off the field himself, as most of us Novocastrains, like him or not, know very well. IMO, let's not bring these things into this particular debate, eh?

Cheers.

What antics has Charlie spoken of? You're not refering to 'temper tantrams'?

Cheers.

He has been referring to his demotion of league through negotiations with union. He has called Johns an "angry man", and implied that Lockyer is alot better than him morally.

Lockyer's no angel either.

How does his negotiations with Union demote the game of RL especially given he ended up staying with RL - wouldn't that be a slap in the face to code of union especially considering the lengths they attempted to go in trying to lure him to the code ???

I am sure that if Union knocked on Lockyers doorstep the way they did with Johns that he would think twice about what code to play and so he should because it wasn't exactly an offer you should just throw out into the garbage!

In a way he's right. I understand the possibilty of it being a 'negotiation process' and Razor poitned out early, but it was drawn out too long and certainly didn't do League any favours in the process.

He has called Johns an "angry man"

Passionate IMO. I'll have to disagree with CS on this one.

and implied that Lockyer is alot better than him morally.

Considering what I mentioned in a few posts up, possibly. But I don't live in Brisbane, and I don't hear about or see what Lockyer get's up to off the field or training paddock. But like I said, I don't believe those particular issues belong in this particular discussion - beit about Johns or Lockyer.

Lockyer's no angel either.

See above.

Cheers.

Lockyer signed 5 years with Brisbane. He's often made it clear he'd never switch to Union.

Johns had every right to consider the offer though. He could've made his descision a bit quicker though ;-)

Cheers.

Mate everyone has there price ;-)

and on Johns if i was in his position I would of done the same thing as it meant you would of got a hell of alot more if it was drawn out as long as it lasted ;-)

Was it good for the game for it to have been drawn out, I don't think it affected it however I think his decision to stay with league was something League needed over Union considering that the 3 players they have gone after in the past few years they have signed
