By the way, Charlie seems to think that Lockyer has captained Australia 8 times, yet JW maintains it is 16.

One of you is wrong, and needs to get their information correct.

16????????? i dont think so
He only took over 2003 and we have not played 16 tests in 2 yrs. Right? Yeah thats right.
6 wins
1 draw
1 loss

EVERYONE loses sometime or another
agree charlie but you've lost if you think aus wouldn't have won those tests with johns as captain - again though - it doesn't matter who is captain

My bad....

Apologies all round.

I included ALL matches, rather then only Tri-Nations, Ashes, etc.

Correct, 8 "legitimate" Tests, for 6 wins.

Still, its 400% more than Johns, I stand by my comments of Apples and Oranges.

Cheers.

What's your point? I am addressing CS, who previously said that last year Lockyer was great on that tour, and hence a worthy captain.
Unfortunately you interpreted the situation incorrectly.

Try to read with more precision in the future.

JW has a VALID VALID point.
Johns has captained the team on 2 occasions..mid season crap.
One was a match in 2002 when Australia played GB and won 64-10. Our players had just come off a tough Origin campaign and GB were jet lagged.
Lockyer led an UNDEFEATED ROO TOUR in 2003.
Lockyer has the been the leader of 2 over seas campaigns and had led his team as good as anyone

How is his point valid?????

You just proved my point again:

"Lockyer led an UNDEFEATED ROO TOUR in 2003"

He did well in 3 games so he is a great captain, yet because Johns did well in 2 games his efforts don't count? FFS.

"One was a match in 2002 when Australia played GB and won 64-10. Our players had just come off a tough Origin campaign and GB were jet lagged."

What are you trying to say? That Johns led a tired, weary, and physically drained Kangaroos side to a huge victory against a team that just half a year later Lockyer struggled to overcome?

Thanks for strengthening my argument.

Even that 3 match series against the Brits last year showed how Australia struggled, only just winning all 3 games on the bell. Australia should've dominated Britain that year, despite the injuries.

and johns as captain would have changed all that would it?
australia had craig wing in the centres with phil bailey...we had crocker as a 5/8!!! The team was struggling as it is with a lack of talent.
Lockyer played a lone hand with Kimmorley.

Lockyer has now been captain 8 times and lost only once.

You fail to mention the draw here!

they prob would have.
but Johns only was leader twice. Lockyer was given the position and has run away with it and done a fine job.
IF Johns had been captain for 10-12 times and went down for a yr (with injury...what else is new) and then came back then he should be captain again. But, it was only twice.

would it really upset you if johns gets it back?

no tosser...Australia wer match hardened and ready for the kill in 2002. Their skill level was primed after origin. GB were ambused. Even Phil Gould (i hate him too) said as much.

So let me get this straight...

The Broncos among other clubs complain that their players are tired and drained during and directly after Origin, yet when the players play against Great Britain the effect is magically reversed, and they are suddenly fresh superstars?

Astounding.

By the way, personal insults are unnecessary and childish.

I wish to God that Johns went to Union...just to see how you would have worshipped the wanker then.
Headlines would have been... "Australia league captain defects to union"....would have done league wonders wouldnt it.
But nooooooooooo...he stays with League and we are expected to bow down and kiss his Nikes....well not me mate.

A one offf game with the best of the best is a "bit" different to having to play 10-11 games after origin with your club, in the worlds toughest league comp dont you think?
Look outside the square...it doesnt hurt...trust me.

Then the exact same can be said for the first game of the Tri-Series against NZ, after a tough finals campaign.
