This week's choices from http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,25918878-5018866,00.html

Brisbane Broncos v Bulldogs
Round nine 2005
The Broncos were sitting equal-first on the ladder after completing a four-game winning streak, while the Bulldogs had made an erratic start to be 4-4. But the Doggies travelled north having recorded one-sided wins in the previous two matches in Brisbane. Brent Sherwin's kicking game set up a commanding first-half lead for the Dogs, but Darren Lockyer then stamped his class on the match. Lockyer was a standout performer, his brilliant effort including another example of his ability to deliver under pressure.

Penrith Panthers v Newcastle Knights
Round 16 2005
Penrith had beaten Newcastle only once in their previous nine matches at home, yet they were still hot favourites here as the Knights had failed totally to cope with a massive injury toll and were still searching for their first victory of the season. The Knights' 13 consecutive losses marked the worst start to a season since Eastern Suburbs' run in 1966. Ten days after leading New South Wales to victory in State of Origin II, a rejuvenated Andrew Johns was inspirational for Newcastle.

Manly v North Queensland Cowboys
Round 21 2005
Manly had won six of the eight encounters between the sides, and Brookvale had become a dreaded road trip as the Sea Eagles had claimed seven consecutive wins at home. Two home defeats, as part of a four-game losing streak, reduced the fear factor for visitors, however, and the Cowboys travelled as the Sea Eagles' equal on the ladder - with both sides on 24 points, two of six teams in equal-third spot on the ladder. This was one of the most entertaining games of 2005, with plenty of twists and turns plus controversy in the lead-up to the match winning try.

Manly Cowboys was great...especially with Ty Williams 109 metre try ( the try started on his own in goal) and also Chris Hicks not being in position for the kickoff after a conversion. Great game

:lol: Yeh remember that ,was getting back to position slowly ,waving & smiling at the crowd .Only 2mins to go he thought they had it won.

Cows were ready for kickoff. ref was ready, touchies were ready...Hicks was still back near halfway. Cows did short kick off, Bowman got ball ...ty scores on last in corner off a Payne grubber.
Crowd were absolutley stunned..
Very entertaining game ..went right to the wire.

This week:

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,26240440-5019333,00.html

Penrith v St George
round six, 1998

Penrith had won both their home games leading into this while St George hadn't tasted success at the foot of the mountains since 1989. But they were two evenly matched sides. The clash of the centres between Ryan Girdler and David Woods against Mark Coyne and Jamie Ainscough was something to look forward to, as was the tough battle in the forwards. The Panthers had the Adamson brothers, Matt and Phil, and Mark Geyer while St George had Lance Thompson, Darren Treacy and Wayne Bartrim. Watch for a controversial sin binning that has a major bearing on the outcome.

Illawarra v Souths
round 12, 1998

This match featured the much-anticipated clash of the brilliant young five-eighths, Trent Barrett and Craig Wing. It had been nine long years since Souths tasted success against the Steelers but they seem to catch them at an opportune time with the home side struggling for consistency at WIN Stadium. The two skippers, Paul McGregor and Tim Brasher, would also play key roles for their teams.

Adelaide v Auckland Warriors
round 20, 1998

In what was their only season in the NRL, the Rams began terribly, with just one victory in their first 10 games. After the sacking of coach Rod Reddy, their performances improved dramatically under Dean Lance. Going into this match, they'd won three of their last four. With a massive injury toll, veteran Noel Goldthorpe would need to win the battle of the halves against 22-year-old Kiwi international Stacey Jones

Could be seeing the Adelaide Rams on TV again! :D

Panthers lost a close one to the Dragons from memory, so don't really need to see that game again.

Rams v Auckland would be interesting. Going from nothing but my good footy memory but I think the Rams got up.

Fox Sports is giving you the chance to play program director, by choosing which classic rugby league match you want to see each week on Chooseday Night Football.
This week, we feature three classic games featuring the Rookie of the Year from the respective seasons.

Nominate your preferred match by voting in the associated poll. The match with the most votes by midnight on Monday, December 28, will go to air at 6.30pm (EDT) on Fox Sports 2HD and Fox Sports 2 the following night, Chooseday night.

Get voting then tune in next Chooseday to watch one of the following memorable rugby league games.

Canberra Raiders v Newcastle Knights
(Round 15, 1998)
Newcastle topped the premiership ladder after a six-game winning streak, and having won six from seven on the road. The Raiders, meanwhile, had won four from five at home. The visitors were without Paul Harragon, Robbie O'Davis and Adam MacDougall. The hosts also suffered a late setback, with the withdrawal of Laurie Daley, but this provided an opportunity for Mark McLinden. Unaffected by the wet weather, this game marked another example of McLinden's brilliant attacking play during his rookie season. In 1998, he scored 12 tries and provided the spark for many more in a real crowd-pleasing effort.

Bulldogs v Northern Eagles
(Round 4, 2001)
The Bulldogs topped the premiership ladder having made an undefeated start to the season. The Eagles had also made a solid start, winning two from three. Braith Anasta had joined the Bulldogs, despite being a South Sydney junior and the nephew of Rabbitohs great George Piggins. In 2001, he received the Rookie of the Year award and was selected in the Kangaroos squad. The match against the Eagles was viewed as his breakthrough game, when he displayed a combination of pace and creativity in his first NRL start at five-eighth.

Brisbane Broncos v South Sydney Rabbitohs
(Round 17, 2004)
Souths struggled all year, but two wins from three before this trip to Brisbane had given them confidence, particularly given that the Broncos were without six players due to Queensland State of Origin commitments. But the Broncos still had Karmichael Hunt. After a bruising initiation against the Warriors in round one, Hunt showed incredible toughness for a 17-year-old and he played all 26 games for the Broncos. With an incredible step, superb hands and durability, he was a worthy recipient of numerous awards for the game's best newcomer. He created a record in this encounter, but master coach Wayne Bennett was keen to protect his rising star from the media.
