Funny how everyone talks about "having a great christmas" or "it's christmas be nice to one another"..........i say cut the shit!

It's just an money making exercise for organisations so people buy presents from these to boost profits significantly, funny how all the sales start from Boxing day onwards

" But what about sharing the christmas spirit"............... compnaies don't give a shit about christmas or the " christmas spirit"

I love when you see all the banks wish only there clients a Merry Christmas........they don't give a f**k about anyone else bar the people that make them money  ......wheres the " christmas spirit" in that

Or when the Banks wish there clients Merry Christmas for only the reason that if something was to happen to them over christmas they'd loose a client  money  .......it's bullshit i tells ya

I reckon it's about time young kids are brought up knowing Santa Clause is bullshit...........there isn't any

It will save money as presents won't have to be brought.

Time, in not having to bust your arse through your lunch break to find someone a present that you don't want to buy a present for in the first place.

Effort, in not having to bullshit to your children or your kids that Santa Clause is true.

It has come to a stage now where i just tell all kids that it's a load of crap, i say to them if Santa Clause is true and he does live in the North Pole why the f**k is he at Bankstown Square & Erina Fair or Bass Hill Plaza etc at the same time same day??.........i also tell them to stay up and watch their parents eat the fruit cake & beer supposedly left out for Santa.

Solution

We cann buying presents for everyone at christmas, we just go to church, have a few drinks and celebrate Jesus Christs B'day and recieve extra presents for our birthdays instead it feel more relevant as lets face it, i don't recieve presents for my mates b'day do i? so why should Christmas day be any different as we're too celebrating someone else's birthday? why the hell are we recieveing presents for someone elses life.

I know this new, radical, bold scenario is currently in it's initial faze for myself, but by spreading the word to the new generation of kids we can save Money,Time, Effort in buying presents for people who don't deserve presents, or people we just couldn't be bothered buying presents
for.

I don't belive in Jesus, however I enjoy giving people presents, and the happiness it gives them. So I don't think Christmas should be canned at all. It's all about being with family, being happy and greatful for what you have.

I enjoy giving my friends and family presents more than receiving presents, always have and will continue to do so.

Too many people take their family and friends for granted, its not until they are gone that you realise just how much you take them for granted.

I shall take this opportunity to thank all my friends out there who have been there for me this year, people like Houdini, Forum Idiot, MysteryGirl, Melstar, Mullet, KnightSmurf, Everlovin' Antichrist, jed, choppies, legallyblonde, les norton, tigermite, chileman, RifRaf, Sincas, brissie and Willow (thats just from this site)

Thanks guys, You're all legends.

Why not give gifts at different parts of the year then?? why wait to christmas?

Just because you have loved ones doesn't mean they need presents!

My girlfriend for example just wanted to see me on christmas day and that was her present, get my drift?

But i like giving out gifts too, i just do it when i feel like it, christmas is another day for me.

If we did it on another day, you'd be bitching and whining about the same thing, as your point to this thread was how Christmas was all about businesses making money. Doesn't matter what day of the year you have this event, businesses are still going to make the same money.

Giving of presents and gifts is like giving thanks. The disciple gave thanks to Jesus for feeding them (or something like that), and the tradition has carried on throughout time.

Its tradition, just like national anthems. If you don't like it and want to be different, then don't buy anyone anything at Christmas time and make sure you don't receive anything either.

No, missed the point completely.

If you want to show affection or appreciation to a loved one you do it whenever you feel it's required, that's the point!

Buisnesses wouldn't prosper as sales would be too unpredictable and not sustained, people wouldn't buy as many presents as basically many Christmas presents are for people who basically brought you a present so you return the favour.

Also, ever noticed the prices of merchandise go up around christmas? if not start looking, it's well documented.

Plus have you ever seen a sale around from the 21st to the 25th of december? i haven't.

Yes it is, thats exactly what i've been saying, i just try not too wait to Christmas to do it, i do it when i feel it's justified.

The rest of your post i don't understand.

Its tradition, just like national anthems. If you don't like it and want to be different, then don't buy anyone anything at Christmas time and make sure you don't receive anything either

Tradition? for someone who doesn't believe in Jesus Christ i find it hard to believe that you believe in it?

I buy presents for people at different intervals of the year regardless, they just recieve extra at christmas time from me due to the gimic.

I don't expect anything from christmas, so when i get something i'm surprised, thats why i buy a present to show my gratitude towards them for buying me a present.

Greed is the backbone of modern society, it's a known fact. I'm over christmas, my favourite part is just the socialising and the day on the cans with family and friends.

I couldn't care what I get.

The sentiment at the heart of this thread is not only cynical, supercilious and cliched, but atrociously spelt. Christmas, as with just about everything, is what you make it. If people choose to buy presents, or choose to be nice to one another for the season, then it is a boon for humanity imo. To complain that it is a scam driven by greed, or to bemoan the fact that such behaviour should continue the year round, is nit-picking.

Spread the love.

Is your argument so feeble that you must immediately resort to lame personal insults, Ron? Let's try to keep it civilised, shall we? It is Christmas, after all.
