Cleary v Ponga

I am stunned that Ponga can be compared to anyone. This kid plays behind the worst pack in the comp and slays them spectacularly...Cleary plays behind the best in the comp and goes ok...not a spectacular or rare talent, just a very mature head on young shoulders.

Ponga will probably be the best player of all time.

I think the comparison is a little fairer than people care to admit considering Ponga plays like a 6 and is likely destined to move there long term (like Moylan but successful).

But Cleary has proven he is better. At least, right now.

Ponga will need to work on his defence and options before moving to the frontline. He gets monstered on the other side of the ball and still comes up with the odd poor decision that puts his team on the backfoot

Would say guiding your club to 2 finals series coming up with wins in both of them and now guiding your team to the top of the table and coming up with a win in your debut Origin after being knocked around is better than doing ok.

Tim Smith had an outstanding record breaking rookie season. He basically peaked as a first year player. I'd rate Ponga's rookie season so far, on par with that.

Rugby League is a team sport.

We are discussing two players of great potential in two different positions with vastly different roles.

I look forward to these two teaming up and and belting the Poms.

That said, IMO the Ponga types are very rare and very dangerous.

Clearly types are easier to find.

Maloney has been rubbish for a couple of years now. This is all on the development of Cleary. I think he can easily surpass Johns' achievements. Maybe not his 'legacy'...

Cleary at 20 years of age will have played more origins that Johns at 20 years of age, thus giving him the lead at this stage.

Great trolling. Love your work.

Even better than your last effort. Keep it up, you are doing a great job...

Fair assessment. A 20 year old doing what he is doing at the rate he is doing it is unheard of in todays game. Rivaled only by maybe Valentine Holmes in terms of achievements at such a young age. Hopefully he plays injury free as his career trajectory is headed straight into immortal class. Those that don't see this either don't like the bloke or just don't know footy.

You heard he was on the market and you are the girlfriend type. I get it.

Keep it coming.....

Cleary is the vastly superior player in most facets. Ponga reminds me of someone like Kurt Gidley - A good well rounded player but not someone a contending club should build around.
:D:D:D Ponga is a marque player the likes of which comes around very rarely. His skill set is complete and he'll go down as one of, if not the best of his generation.

Give me one example of what he does on the field "he has no right in doing". Fact is, his skillset is limited to goose stepping and throwing the occassional cutout ball.
You just havent watched any of his games or you're simply brain dead.

Agreed. Those premiership he wins with the Broncos, will really cement his legacy.

Who amongst us doesn’t?
Find me one man that says he’s never jacked it to Cotric and you’ve found yourself a liar
I'm rubbing one out right now.

It's going to cause you a few issues though. From now on whenever your Mrs screams out give it to me Nick during those special moments you will know deep down she isn't referring to you.
