biggest overreaction ever.

this is what happens when you let the moral crusaders run the game.

No doubt he breached a club rule , but it should have ended with a one game suspension.

All this moral panic is giving the clubs the chance to treat their employees however they like.

The players association need to get a lot stronger on rubbish like this.

rugby league players need to organise themselves.

this is outrageous. that fine is so totally out of proportion that it's laughable.

in the AFL this is a maximum $5000 fine. $50K is stupid and unfair.

Locky's tackle?

Yeah that was massive.

If that was a tackle then Zappia's email was hardcore porn.

He was drunk and tackled a member of the public.

You think that's less serious than bringing a girl back to your room?

he didn't tackle anyone - he put his arms around him and SIMULATED a tackle.

that fat prick wouldn't have got up had he really been tackled.

big deal, ho hum.

the Clinton fine is a MASSIVE f**kING JOKE.
there should be talk of a player boycott of league until the madness stops and they can carry on with living a normal life.

how many young blokes are veering away from professional RL when they see they can't even have a drink, root, whatever out of hours ON THEIR OWN TIME??????

sad and pathetic this game has become - but its all thanks to the media and the softcocks who run the game

Sassy went to a lecture on the issues of women and league and apparently the broncos came up with a code of conduct saying players can't bring back women to their hotel rooms while in camp. The players all signed agreements or something. So in this case it isn't the 'moral crusaders' (whoever they are) it's the club and the playrs who all came to an agreement on a code of conduct.

It would take me over a year and a half of work to earn $50,000.

For what it is that he did, it's a vastly overly exaggerated figure to come up with. I see pretty much everyone agrees with this, no matter what their opinions as to whether he deserved punishment or not.

Havig said that 50 grand is insanity. Specially on a forward salary.

thats the point though , I dont think anyone is objecting to some sort of punishment. As you said they signed the code of conduct , but $50K?! its just plain ridiculous.

Assuming that there is nothing more to this story, and it was just a straightforward encounter, this is ridiculous

he'll get off...he has to.
This must be just some sort of warning to the rest of them.
it has to be...50 grand is daylight robbery.

Harsh, over the top and all of that.......but playing devil's advocate, i wonder what other options clubs have other than to get harsh and over the top. You can only hit someone over the head with a feather for so long. With all due respect to the players, it would seem that they haven't exactly been quick on the uptake when it comes to "behaviour required to minimise the risk of negative publicity".
